1650.0. "Beware the Ides of March" by ENABLE::glantz (Mike @TAY 227-4299 TP Eng Littleton) Mon Mar 30 1992 13:14

The "Ides" is the 15th of March, May, July, or October, and the 13th of
any other month. As legend has it, Julius Caesar was assassinated by
Brutus on the Ides of March (or at least, so goes the play by Shakespeare).

Some superstitious folks whom I know consider the Ides of March to be a
day on which special caution is advised. I've been told (can't confirm)
that Astrology often predicts mischief for that date, or at least did
in Shakespeare's time, so that it would have been no surprise to his
contemporaries that tragedy would befall someone on that day.

Is this date still significant?

PS: I was helping to install a door at a friend's house on that day.
Other than it being about 15 degrees F, everything went well.

On the 15th of March we collected two kittens. This was a mixed
    blessing.
