1427.0. "How about Meditation Rooms at DEC !" by STARCH::RAMAKR (Samastha Jagataam Shantir Bhavathu) Wed Feb 20 1991 18:54

    Namasthe Everyone !

I was feeling a little drained
of energy this morning and was looking for a quiet place
where i could sit down, meditate and center myself.
But i just couldn't find a place to do so !
It wasn't exactly warm outside either..
Meditating in cubicles, libraries i guess isn't a great idea for
    various reasons...

I am sure a lot of us must have experienced the same situation
many times over, wherein we would like a place to sit down
and meditate or just plain be by ourselves..

The company has sports rooms, smoking rooms etc. Why not a
meditation/prayer/be-by-yourself room ? This could to a certain
extent help increase the productivity of an employee.
During the times, we don't feel so great ( headaches etc),
perhaps a little time spent in such places could make us feel
better, rather than take the day off etc.

    Any suggestions, comments, criticism ?

    In Love,
    rama

Many facilities, including the last two at which I have worked,
have sick rooms, complete with cots, first aid kits, etc.

I think a room like this might serve the purpose. Try
checking with your local facilities manager. There might
    be some unused space available.

We have one TTB. It's called the Quiet Room. I've noticed that it's
    used a lot too.

The 'Quiet Room' sounds like a good name for it. You know, you
have to be aware that there would be some resistance to calling
it a 'meditation' room, as some people based on their religious
beliefs feel that this is not a healthy practice.

Why not suggest it to your local Facilities group, as well as
    Employee Relations?

Then there are the days when I need just a ten minute
    cat nap.

Hi, Ramakrishnaji, Carole, Mark ... when I need some peace and quiet I
go sit in my car if the weather isn't amenable to going for a stroll.
