1349.0. "What to do with palmreading gift" by ESSB::BROCKLEBANK () Tue Sep 04 1990 10:06

I'm entering this note on behalf of a friend Jude. When I told him
of this conference he asked me to enter the following query to see
whether any of your suggestions could help him where to look.

The gist of Jude's situation is that he discovered a few years ago that
he had the gift to read palms. He saw events in friends lives that
already happened and also were yet to happen. However he didn't feel
comfortable with this medium and had difficulty communicating what he
saw to his friends.

At present he is looking for some other means by which he can use his
gift (of seeing?) and is looking for suggestions. He also has had
prophetic dreams and asked me to include a couple here which may spark
off some interest in some of the Dejavu readers. I'v mislaid his
account of the dreams but will enter them next week.

Any suggestions or contacts he could make would be appreciated.

1349.1How about an "object" lesson?DNEAST::BERLINGER_MALIFE IN THE ASTRAL PLANETue Sep 04 1990 16:2612
If your friend feels the need to be educated in Palmistry
I would point the book Chiero's_Language_of_the_Hand. If it is just
a case of wanting to try something else Psychometry (spelling ?)
which, please correct me if I'm wrong, is readings (past, present,
    future) done from personal objects.

At the risk of prying why does your friend not want to
    read palms?

                                 Later,

Sorry for the incomplete sentence in my peply 1349.1.
Spelling could be another issue. Hope you get the idea just the same.

1349.3maybe its passing on bad newsESSB::BROCKLEBANKWed Sep 05 1990 10:057
I think that what he doesn't like about the palm reading is that he
sees so many bad events and then has to decide whether to tell the
person of the impending events. I'll pass on the idea of
readings from personal objects. Maybe this medium will suit him
    better.

    Dave .3,

If your friend 'sees' things that trouble him, changing the medium
will not make a difference. He needs to understand the nature of what
he is seeing and come to terms with his fear, dislike, or ambivalence
    of it.

This is the gift his ability is offering him. It's his choice to
accept the challenge to understand the wisdom it offers. Before picking
up any other medium, he might want to contemplate what the dynamics of
'seeing bad things' is trying to teach him. He may also want to
consider what his intention is for using his ability. If it is for
healing purposes, he will find that exercising his ability will also
reveal the areas in himself to himself that need healing as well.

There's no getting around it. That's just the way these things work.
But he can take heart (? :-). If he doesn't want to learn through this
ability, his soul and God will find another way to bring to him those
experiences designed to help him heal and grow. :-)

    peace,

I agree with Karen.* in .4 changing mediums may not change
what he sees. I read tarot cards- mostly for myself- and on occation
have seen "bad" things in spreads. I feel that it is a matter of trust
that I reveal what I see. I also feel that it is a matter duty to help
the querrent see a way to get over on the "badness" I've read in the
cards. I further agree with Karen.* in that the advise I've given to
help others has at times been what I needed to hear also.

                                   Later,

1349.6What is "bad" and "good"LAOTSE::PETRAITISTue Sep 11 1990 16:3120
Most mediums have to deal with this issue at some time. The gift is to see the
truth that multi-dimensional reality is holding out for this other person who
is in front of us. The truth of this person's life will happen. The view of the
future given to the medium aof this person's life will happen. The view of the
future given to the medium actually can help the person deal with some
unpleasantness to come.

The knowledge of a person as one who is not limited to this body only,
this life only, is essential to transcending the judgement, feeling of
'responsibility and guilt that your friend may feel. Mediumistic ability is
a capability that implies that your friend will have to learn how to "teach"
without feeling resposibility for the outcome.

A friend of mine who does readings always re-casts the negative into th lesson
learned in and through the "negative" experience. This can actually can help
the person deal with some unpleasantness to come.

Hope this helps,
Gotta go now.

    D .6,

I agree it is very important for a medium to take care of how he or
she presents information. Re-casting the negative into the potential
lesson it offers however, is extremely tricky because it very easily
brings the medium's own interpretation of the information into the
sitting. One of the keys to mediumship is to keep one's own personal
interpretation out of the information being received.

    > The view of the future given to the medium of this person's life
    > will happen.

This assumes that the information a medium receives is 100% accurate
D, and to my knowledge, there is NO medium alive (*or* discarnate)
for whom this is true. And if any medium claims this - watch out!!!
(I would even go so far as to recommend that one get up and leave the
    'consultation'.)

    > Mediumistic ability is a capability that implies that your friend
    > will have to learn how to "teach" without feeling responsibility
    > for the outcome.

Imo, one must *never* assume the role of teacher without accepting
some level of responsibility for the outcome! Teaching is a SHARED
responsibility between student and teacher. To believe otherwise is
    foolhardy -- for both parties.
