1230.0. "Weird Dream" by FACVAX::SABANSKI () Tue Mar 27 1990 16:44

I had an awful dream last night that is bothering me today!

I have no idea why I dreamt this, and was wondering if anyone can
help shed some light on it for me......

I dreamt I was in a herse(sp)? And my family and friend's were
there too. I kept asking where I was going and they wouldn't
answer me. It was as if they couldn't see or hear me. There
was a driver dressed in all black and I couldn't see his face,
so I asked him where he was taking me and he said "Home". He
then pulled into a cemetary and I saw a tombstone with my name
on it! I started yelling to my family that I didn't belong here
and I wanted to leave, but they couldn't hear me.

I woke up from the dream and my alarm clock was flashing which
means it had stopped working for awhile! It was the craziest
dream, but it scared the witts out of me!!!

Does anyone have any ideas why I might have dreamt this? I hope
     it's not an omen?

I wouldn't be worried about it being an omen.

I think this signifies that you are due for some sort of realization
or change. Keep in mind that the man in black is your shadow and
represents things in your nature that you have chosen to see as
bad. The shadow archetype is also the keeper of transformative
power - indeed, he wants to take you to your home. The deathlike
aspect is only how you perceive the coming change - you will only
experience a sort of psychic death. Submit to the changes in your
    life.

This is merely my opinion and if it makes no sense ignore it.

I guess all I would say to begin with here is
what has already been entered in 1227.

Basically, as .-1 says, it a sign of a transformation,
    a letting-go or giving-up that's important to you.

Unless you're under some unusual psychological stress - in which
you can't get through to people - I would interpret this dream
    very simply, as follows:

Your brain is telling you that your electrical power is out.

The hearse is your bed. It's also "hers" or "your" situation. Your
family and friends don't answer you because they can't; they, like
you, are "dead to the world" - they're sleeping. The driver is the
part of your brain that has set this dream in motion. You can't see
his face because he doesn't have one. But he does have an (ad)dress,
an interior place which is completely black. The dream itself is a
vehicle to take you "home" - home to the realization that you're dead,
that is, that you're without power and, therefore, without your alarm.
All the frightening imagery of the dream converges on the tombstone
with your name on it. You're powerless! You're dead! That knowledge
hits home to you, and you wake up fast. Now you are thoroughly alarm-
    ed.

And now - assuming the power has been restored - you're able to reset
your alarm and remedy the situation that your brain was aware of even
while you slept. You couldn't see the face of the clock then, but your
brain was probably well aware of it and considered the loss of power -
as shown by the flashing appliance - *significant*. *Significant*
material - that's what dreams are made of.

I agree with .3. I have had all sorts of frightening,odd,dis-
turbing dreams. Most of the time I wake up to some recent external
stimuli (forgot to wind alarm clock, I'll be late for work unless I
    can rouse myself).

                                 Later,

I'm glad another person disagreed with me - I thought I was going to
have to change my model of the universe for a minute when someone
    agreed with me.....:-)
