Hi Paul,
From my perspective, I think it would be very unusual to *not* have
some doubts and questions about this type of work. I have been
working with mediumship for almost 8 years and still every now and
then have a question or doubt about what is coming through or what
is happening. Working through and with these doubts and questions
is part of the development process. The channeling process you are
developing will probably change over the years and through those
changes new questions will arise. If you are serious about this
work be prepared that it will change your life.
For me it basically comes down to 1) knowing why you are doing this
- what's the purpose?, 2) commit yourself to the work in service
to others, 3) work at creating a close, trusting relationship with
your guides, 4) have faith that the information you are passing
on has meaning to the recipient, 5) be responsible for all that
you do, and most important 6) keep God/Goddess/ATI at the source
of the work.
Your sincerity comes through your words. G/GS/ATI, spirit, humanity
and the world need good workers. Just know that others understand
the process you are going through and that it is not an easy task.
Love and light to you,
Carole

| Paul,
You are not doubting your ability to channel but rather the source of
what you are channeling....therefore placing yourself in a space where
you are sure of the source you are connecting to is the first important
consideration. The only information or image, etc that is silly is that
which is not understood or shared....just like the only stupid question
is the one not asked!. You are not allowing youself to be open to
images and thoughtforms you are not accustomed to dealing with in your
daily conscious context. However, you will eventually find that the
Father/Mother does not always transmit in forms we are familiar with
on this particular planet or plane (neither do the Paradise Suns).
If you need assurance of the source ask for it and it shall be
received. NEVER feel that you cannot ask any question for your own
assurance.
I hope this helps you and I will be happy to discuss it futher with
you if you wish.
In Light and Love,
I AM

| Paul,
You should always make sure that you protect yourself before opening
up. I always do protection affirmations and surround myself with
a "golden armor of silver light". I also say affirmations about only
letting only "Good and God", and the "Highest and Best" come through me.
I also ask my spirit guides to help me (and also the Ascended Masters).
When I am concentrating on a specific question, I always phrase the
question starting with "What does the Heart and Mind of God want" me
and/or the person I am giving the reading for to know about the
specific situation that I or that person is asking about. If you
protect yourself and only allow that which is of Good and God through
you, then you should start gaining confidence in that the information
that you see/feel/hear is accurate and helpful information. Once you
have confidence in this, you should be able to not judge the information
that you convey, but just state the information and let the person sort
it out in whatever way they need to.
I think that a lot of the initial self-doubting comes from not being
sure about where the information is coming. If you are practicing
mediumship, you ARE RESPONSIBLE for the information that you convey,
which is why you should be rooted in Good and God, and protect
yourself so that you will only open up to that which is of Good and God,
for the Highest and Best.

I N T E R O F F I C E M E M O R A N D U M
Paul,
As you've said and in the replies you've received, doubts are
very much a part of this work. I have been studying and working
with spirit communication for about ten years and still work
through issues of doubt from time to time.
As Carole indicated, the more you work with it, the more
comfortable you may become. This does not mean that the doubts
will go away, it only means you will view them in such a way that
they do not seriously impede the work, as they tend to do in the
beginning. You end up working side by side with your doubts.
The positive side of doubting Paul, is that it indicates a
concern and a sincere effort for the quality and integrity of
your work with spirit.
As was alluded to in another reply, many times the information
given to you by a spirit communicator for another person will
make very little or no sense to you. That's because the
information isn't meant for you. So although it may not make any
sense to you, it may very well make perfect sense to the person
receiving it. This is one of the trickiest aspects of
communication - removing the temptation to add a personal
interpretation to the message, particularly if you see a
quizzical look on the person's face who is receiving it.
It is challenging indeed to "let go and let God/Goddess/ATI"
It is difficult because most of us have never been taught how to
"be" in this way. Trust is developed in the physical world of
the 5 senses by being able to "verify" information immediately,
primarily through strictly rational, logical, and scientific
reasoning. There has been little value placed on intuitive
perception, because of its primarily subjective nature and
therefore is difficult to be measured and quantified.
The channeler or medium, in order to do spirit communication,
must journey beyond the 5 senses to receive information. The
medium learns to access another level of his or her being and
how to operate in a "multi-sensory" way as opposed to the
traditional 5 sensory way of perceiving and processing
information.
Then the task becomes taking multi-sensory information and
relating it to another through the five senses. As Altraea
indicated, much information received on this other level will be
given in forms of symbols and imagery, and may not be immediately
understood by the person receiving it. It is here where the
medium must resist the temptation to add a personal
interpretation of the symbols. This is what is meant by "getting
out of your own way". The medium's task is simply to "report"
the information that is being given.
Sometimes this is much easier said than done. But to become a
truly clear channel for spirit, it is something that absolutely
needs to happen. No ands, ifs, or buts. There are ways to
facilitate understanding of the information received by spirit,
but that is a whole other topic.
As Carole said, there is a desperate need for good workers. And
mediumship will change your life. A book I would *highly*
recommend in helping to better understand intuitive processing
and spirit communication is Gary Zukov's _Seat of the Soul_.
Good luck Paul. It is good to see the work blossoming in another
dedicated, sincere person.

| To all who answered: Thank you for the good input. Many good ideas to
work with. Your replies help put things in better perspective.
.2 ... Asking for and getting assurance from the source is something I
am going to get into more. However, most of my doubts still seem
centered around "getting out of my own way" rather than wondering about
the source.
.3 ... Regarding protecting oneself: This is something I always do
before allowing myself to channel -- in many of the same ways you
protect yourself. The white-light imagery and prayers are quite
effective, since I have yet to have a negative experience while
channeling. By "negative," I mean connecting with any information
that is not wise and loving. But you are essentially right: Stating
good intentions and asking for protection are necessary parts of the
process, in my opinion.
Although everyone has innate ability to channel, I do feel honored for
having been given the opportunity to perhaps someday help humanity in
a spiritual way. (A year ago, I never would have dreamed it possible.)
So ... I agree ... With these gifts come certain responsibilities.
And I do take it all seriously.
Thanks again for the replies,
Paul
