    All joking aside, we should consider that the basenote author may
    be very sincere in their question.  How do you know that they have
    not recently experienced the loss of a dear loved one?  Could we
    try a little more sensitivity?

    I chose silence since I don't have the energy to fight back with
    unnecessary comments right now. Some people must have forgotten
    why this conference exists to start with.

    My present perspective is that most of the dead are unable to speak.
    Perhaps only a very low percentage of the passed will have the skills
    necessary to speak. In their mundane lives I suspect they were high
    powered people. A little of that energy trickled into the surviving
    energyform.

         By the way, you might want to take a look, a deep look, at what's
    "real" and what isn't.  There is at least one channeled entity I am
    fully aware of who is more real than most beings in this conference
    (for openers.)  But that's sort of an aside...if you search around
    these notes, there are many discussions of what reality is an isn't.
    Since I have discovered that solid objects don't exist, and that
    energy is moved by thought, I have realized that the concepts I held
    onto for several decades about what is real and what isn't are pretty
    vacuous.  If you look, you might discover the same thing.  Deep inside
    I think you do already, however, since that is why you are here to
    begin with.  Know what I think?  I think that your Higher Self
    (higher consciousness) has directed you here and is giving you a
    message and that you don't sense it as real.  Choices, choices, always
    there are choices.
        By the way, humor is definitely a valid approach to life...the only
    thing about this or any other form is being aware of impact and being
    responsible for that impact, which may mean that there is a more 
    appropriate manner to deal with things.

    My experience with mediumship indicates that there is validity to this 
    form of communication.  A reputable medium is key.  I would highly 
    recommend the same person in Boston that Carole has in mind.

    Are you referring to Necromancy? If so, the general reasons as I
    understand it is for predicting the future. Pardon any intrusion, but I
    do not understand the motive as stated in the base note.

    What makes you think **you** can not communicate with someone who has 
    passed over?  Do you feel you require some medium (operator) to do this
    because they are "real"?
    
    I do not make light of this issue, it comes very close to my home, but 
    I would like to suggest that it may be your intention to merely "check
    in" with a departed loved one, without interfering with their process.
    If that is so, all that is usually required to do is to speak with them
    as you drift off to sleep at night and ask that they communicate via 
    dream or "signs" throughout the day.  This might be necessary to do 
    a few times in a row, but has never failed for me. 
    
    Usually it is just at a point when I am feeling very lonely for my 
    loved one and simply need to know he is doing alright.  He NEVER has
    let me down, and through my own internal process, as well as the info
    that comes through, I am able to check the validity.
    
    As an added, this time of year (Oct/Nov) seems to be the BEST time for
    this type of communication.  (Could it be for the same reason All
    Hallows Eve, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day is at this time of the 
    year? Hummmmmm :-)  )

    I wonder if your method would work with a person who was not well
    known.  I'm fascinated by your note.  My grandmother (who I never knew)
    died under very mysterious circumstances.  For years my mother has said
    that she died of strep throat in 1936.  In checking with the hospital,
    we found out that even in 1936 people did not die of strep.  My
    grandmother was hospitalized for a hypothyroid condition, and was in
    hospital for three months.  When she was due to come home, she was
    "greatly improved" according to her medical records.  But the day
    before she was released she was given "200 grams" of a drug which
    killed her.  I believe that the feeling of unhappiness in my mothers
    family somehow relates to this incident, and has shaped all of our
    lives.  I cannot find anyone who will talk about this or who knows what
    really happened.  Do you think that trying to contact her would work? 
    I'm also wondering what kind of "signs" you receive during the day.  I
    don't mean to pry, but I sincerely hope you can help to shed some light
    on this.

    Sorry for the delay in replying...work flow.
    
    The "signs" I refer to are questions I may have about taking care of 
    an issue that was left undone by my loved one.  The insight I receive
    is "instant" -- by that I mean it is not come to by a logical process.
    Example:  What should I do about giving this to so and so...instant
    answer "no, not now .. do it the 21st of such and such....There is no
    logical process involved, but later when I try to figure out why the
    strange date I find out he will be out of town until that week and 
    will understand the gift better at that time.  Or where is a particular
    tool in a garage that I do not go into normally .... but I close my 
    eyes, dig under the third pile on the left and, by george, there it is.
    
    Also I get dream pictures of how he looks and at what process he may 
    be at during a particular time.  My intention is never to "bother" 
    that process, his worldly work is done and it is not his "job" to 
    take care of me and my needs now, but when I ask it is always with 
    the prerequisite of "if you are able and it is karmically ok".....
    
    As for your grandmother's issue, it sure does seem 'fishy'... Could 
    this "family" secret be more on the lines of some guilt?  I am
    certainly not making judgement...I would think that if it is strictly
    a request that comes out of a desire to do some family healing...she
    may come through to you.  If it is for curiosity, I personally do not
    believe we should bother those on the other side, like I said, we are
    not their job anymore (personal perception).  One way to find out....
    Possible request mode:  Grandma So and so, there seems to be some
    question as to how you left us which may be the cause of a general
    sence of negativity in our family.  Is there anything that you know
    of that I can do or understand to heal this?  You may come to me in 
    dream or make your presence known to me during the day.
    
    By this last statement, to me it would seem they would know what 
    triggers a memory of them within you, and follow up on that. (ie,
    favorite flowers, scent, music...)  When "messages" come in, do 
    one thing for yourself and that is DON'T TRY TO LOGIC IT...take it 
    as it is given..and trust that you will understand it at the right 
    time.

    My wife and I have 'talked' with several spirits who have passed on, at
    a session with George Anderson. George was the subject of a book "We
    Don't Die". It was an incredible experience, and confirmed for us that
    we do not die, as we picture it, but rather we pass on into a new
    plane.
    
    Our experience dealt with a young child of ours who passed on last
    year, and my wife's grandmother, who assured us that she is caring for
    him. The details that George told us about their personalities, their
    lives, and our relationships with them left no doubt in our minds that
    this was for real.
    
    Our son assured us that he is at peace, and well, and told us that he
    is with us when we most need him. He noted that he often visits us, and
    told us things about the house and some concerns we had to confirm for
    us that he was still somehow part of our lives.
