1081.0. "Colorado Bigfoot sightings" by TADSKI::WAINE (Linda) Wed Jul 12 1989 00:42

On the "Unsolved Mysteries" show a couple of weeks ago, they had
a segment on recent sightings of Bigfoot in Pikes National Forest
in Colorado (one of which was in the Garden of the Gods area).
Apparently in one case, a bigfoot broke into a cabin and trashed
the place. When he/she/it left the cabin, he/she/it went through
a screen door. Hair was found in the screen and was sent to an
zoology research center in San Diego. The analysis determined that
the hair was from the primate family, but had never been seen before.
Of the primates, it most closely resembled Man and Chimpaneze.
Has anyone heard anything more or this (especially all the Colorado
    Dejavu-ers)?

Your accounting is mostly true except that it is not from the
Garden of the Gods area but rather in the Green Mountain Falls area
further up the pass towards Pikes Peak!
Really though, other than the episode on "Unsolved Mysteries", I
have not seen or heard anything more locally. Although I haven't been
up in Green Mountain Falls probably since February...

Sorry, Not much help am I,

I lived in nearby Cascade, Co. which is at the base of Pikes
Peak Rd. - just a couple of miles from where "it" was reported.
Thus, I took a little more of a interest to it. I personally
don't believe in bigfoot. They did show some odd shaped foot-
prints in the paper. They weren't the classic huge footprints
the you normally see - these looked like they were from some kind
of deformed foot or something and I don't think they were extremely
large. Also, they had the footprints analyzed at a couple universities
which came back with some fantastic conclusion like "these footprints
are not from any known species of North American animal." (wow).
My first hunch is that it could possibly have been a bear, however
I don't think there have been any bear located in this part of the region
for quite some time?. But, it still would be the best bet (excluding
    a hoax).

I live on 5 acres bordered by Pike Nat'l Forest. Got some mighty big leg
bones lying around too - tripped over one last night workin on my dish.

Probably a horses but I couldn't tell the difference. They show up once
in a while and I throw 'em out into the forest where the kids won't get
them and (hopefully) the dog won't find them (again).

I'm "out behind" pikes peak in Divide, Colorado.

Scott.

You can bet on it, even though you may not have seen them, that
there are bear in Pikes National Forest. Mostly small black bears, as
    well as mountain lions, etc.
