* * * * AN INTERNATIONAL ELECTRONIC COMMUNITY:  REFLECTIONS * * * *
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would like to share with you a vision.  We are in the process of
creating an electronic community, which I have called REFLECTIONS.
This will be a forum for sharing and insight.   As a monitored
newslist, I hope to create a space where people feel really safe about
sharing their experiences in spiritual growth.  The community will
have rather a New Age flavor.
This will be basically a registered, moderated mailing list, following
the guidelines posted recently on net.announce.
Here's a proposed list of guidelines that will steer the direction of
our electronic community:
1.  The first and most important concept is that we are all
    REFLECTIONS of one another, on the deepest level. All of our
    experiences that we share in this safe environment are considered
    sacred, and those who participate agree to respect them as such.
    If you don't agree with an author's ideas, either let it go, or
    write an independent article expressing your own point of view.
    REFLECTIONS of one another, on the deepest level. All of our
    experiences that we share in this safe environment are considered
    sacred, and those who participate agree to respect them as such.
    If you don't agree with an author's ideas, either let it go, or
    write an independent article expressing your own point of view.
2.  Those participating will use another's words (ie quoting) only to
    validate, or further enhance the ideas of the original writer.  If
    an "opposing" view would like to be presented, then the article
    must stand on its own merit, and not on the criticism of another's
    words.  Material from many points of view will be shared.
3.  Personal musings, channelings, poetry, [short] essays, editorials,
    humorous bits, experiences, inspirational quotes, and reports
    are all valid material to submit and be published to the others on the list.
    All of Caduceus' channeled material will appear in this community
    only.
4.  The focus of the group is PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION AND SOUL GROWTH.
    I would like this group to focus on how we can create an
    electronic community that will support all of our growth.  The
    material  will integrate body (to whatever degree possible :-),
    mind and Spirit in a loving dance.  Articles about "lower occult"
    material will not be distributed. :-( Sorry, but such discussions
    definately change the "vibration" of the community.  We all will
    agree to do our best to come from our "Best Place", and keep our
    writing as direct and simple as we can.
5.  When people share in this community, I would hope it would be with a
    feeling that this is the way they would like to create the world.
    If indeed "We are the World,"  then we, creating our peace here,
    will contribute to the peace on Planet Earth.
6.  Some topics I would like to see covered: Earth Changes, Channeling,
    Crystals (high use), the discovery and resolution of personal
    situations, meditation, physical culture, poetry, neat quotes,
    neat theories, Inspiring Bits, dealing with emotions, sexuality
    in the New Age, Death & Dying, Space Brothers (o yes!), events
    (conferences, workshops, seminars, and the like).
7.  *REFLECTIONS* would also be a place for people to discover others
    that may be going through a similar life crisis or experience.
    Hopefully, a few folks will actuall *talk* to each other in
    real time on that ancient thing, the telephone.  In this way, I
    would like to see how far we can go in creating a true "community
    spirit,"  sharing in our words and feelings not unlike those who
    have the opportunity to actually live in a loving, supportive
    community environment.  I'd like to creat "events" and celebrate births,
    deaths, comings and goings.  Maybe even start to get to know one
    another (O NO, NOT THAT!! :-)   Rather like an incredibly fun
    experiment in hi-tech sociology.
8.  Focusing more on inspiration than information, perhaps we could
    develop a source of continual growth for all participants.
    Wouldn't it be great to know that when you see "*REFLECTIONS*" in
    the subject header, that you *know* its something positive,
    another  opportunity to share?
These are just a few of the main tenets that I would like to see
manifest.  I'm hoping those who want to help on this planetary project
will add even more ideas.
I have a feeling some people will become a little upset at
this idea, feeling that, once again, the New Age is for a special group
of elite, and here's someone else trying to "get a following."  Others
I am sure believe that conflict is a great thing, and it's by that we
learn.  Perhaps yes.  I feel there's enough conflict and invalidation
all around us without creating more in the name of this era of Light,
the New Age.
I see it a lot like a grouping patterns in a mixed
culture: Some people would like to talk to people speaking spanish,
and would tend to hang out with that group.  Others want to speak
German, so time and space is set aside for that group to share.
I have the time and energy to create that loving space for those
interested in sharing in a loving way.  Very simple.
All are invited to get *REFLECTIONS* sent via e-mail, as material
becomes available.
I am really looking forward, with a Full Heart, at sharing
heart-to-heart with the many who are looking for a dynamic place to learn,
to share, to receive validation for who they are, and not what they do
or know.  I expect that this will be a self-selecting community; those
who don't like this community stuff won't be able to stand the
postings ! :-)  and this is how it should be.
I Await your Comments,  Suggestions, (and Addresses *8-).
In Service to Love and the Light,
Steve Dahmen
It seems that I didn't make it very clear how to get into contact with
the Reflections mailing list.
First I am not Steve.  The mailing list is run by Steve who is currently
at AT&T which is why he has a non-DECNet style address.  The mailing list
is very active, to date there is about 130+ messages mailed out.  They will
expect you to write a short biography of yourself as kind of an introduction.
This is a sample of a test messages that I sent Steve via VMS.  I don't
use VMS or any of the other Digital mail systems so anything outside of
being able to do this,  I am worthless.
Good luck!
-Darryl
    What's goin' on?  Can someone else maybe give them my address if I
    can't?
    Enjoyed Reflections, but have received none since Steve moved. Does
    anyone have any info on making contact again with that group--even
    by pen & ink.  The work and home phone will have changed.  Corinne
    Hi Corinne,
    I've looked through the literature I have, but can't locate
    a way of contacting Steve.  I asked Darryl last week if he had
    heard anything, he hadn't.  I did save the bios and if we don't
    hear soon, maybe writing to other members may be an answer.
1067.6Just a thank youJACKAL::LARSENThu Jul 27 1989 17:1512
    Thanks for the quick reply.  Since that was my first input into
    Dejavu {except for bibliography} I was excited and pleased.  I
    will also review any copies I have of Reflections.  I was wondering
    at the time Steve mentioned moving, how any one could handle moving
    and change of work and at the same time keep up anything as time
    consuming as the Reflections notebook, but maybe he did and we
    are not connected to his line.    Anyway-please let me know if you
    hear anything--or if anyone else gets a clue to this mystery,please
    let me in on it.
    Corinne
