1065.0. "China" by COMET::TIMPSON (I C. Therefore I am.) Tue Jun 06 1989 15:15

What with the current civil unrest going on in China I am reminded
of a prediction by Edgar Cayce that "China would become the seat
of Christianity". I believe that what we see happening now may
be the begin of just such a prophecy.

Has any one else out there heard anything along the same lines or
different lines concerning the future of China?

I thought his prediction was that it would be the 'new birthplace
of democracy', but it has been so many years since I read about
it perhaps your quote is more accurate. In any case, he seems to
    have been on target again.

HMMMMMM! I read the quote many years ago also??? Now I am not
    sure.

Well let's just go with the idea that Edgar Cayce spoke of China
and that something along the idea that what Ro or I have said
    would take place in China.

The recent events in China reminded me of a conversation I had
at the Edgar Cayce foundation more than twenty years ago. I was
walking across the patio in front of the old hospital building
after an evening lecture and struck up a conversation with an
elderly Chinese woman who was also returning to her car. Perhaps
the presentation that had just ended mentioned the Cayce prophecy
about China; I can't remember. But for whatever reason I asked the
woman if she thought China would become a Christian nation.
She prefaced her reply by telling me that she was the wife of a
Christian missionary. Since 1949 she and her American husband had lived
in Hong Kong. She was in the States visiting some of her husband's
family. Even though she was unable to visit her relatives in China,
she was able to correspond regularly with her brothers and sisters,
nephews and nieces. In her opinion China was indeed well on its way
to becoming a Christian example to the rest of the world because of
the influence of the Peoples Liberation Army. That was certainly the
last thing I expected her to say!
She explained that her nieces and nephews learned far more about
Christian charity and love of neighbor from their service in the
PLA than from studying the Bible. The bloody events in Beijing have
probably propelled the Peoples Liberation Army into a major identity
crisis. Was the missionary's wife right or wrong about the PLA and
the Christian future of China? I guess time will tell.

Subject: Publicity on Digital in China

                **** DIGITAL CONFIDENTIAL ****

The dramatic events of the past few days in China are bringing national
and local news media attention to Digital. The potential impact of the
turmoil in Beijing has been identified as a major business story in the
U.S., and Digital is being identified as one of the leading American
companies in China.

We have spoken to about 20 media outlets this week about the scope and
status of Digital's business in China, including TIME, BUSINESS WEEK,
UPI, BOSTON GLOBE, the major computer trade publications, and Boston TV
and radio stations. The inquiries have consisted primarily of factual
background.

We are providing the following information:

o Digital's wholly owned subsidiary, Digital Equipment China Ltd., is
based in Hong Kong and consists of approximately 400 employees:

-- 150 sales and service people who work out of Hong Kong, about
35 of whom regularly travel in and out of PRC. (Only 6 of
these employees are Chinese citizens.) Training and service
centers in Beijing and Shanghai continue to be staffed as it
is deemed appropriate, mostly by Chinese contract workers who
            are not Digital employees.

-- 250 manufacturing employees at Digital's Shenzhen plant,
which is some 2,000 miles from Beijing and makes power
supplies that are exported to Hong Kong. The plant is staffed
with virtually all Chinese citizens. At this time the plant
            remains operational and unaffected.

o All Digital employees who are not Chinese citizens have been pulled out
of China (virtually all were out two weeks ago, and the last two people
left early Tuesday and safely returned to Hong Kong).

o It is premature and would be inappropriate to speculate on the future
of doing business in China. Digital will support any course of action
the U.S. Government chooses to take as it impacts our business.

o Digital has been doing business in China since 1979. The Chinese
subsidiary was formed in November 1988; the manufacturing plant opened
in December. Prior to forming the subsidiary, business was conducted
through a trading agent formed by the Chines government.

o Revenue and investment figures on Digital's Chinese operations are
internal business information. Chinese revenues represent less than 1%
  of Digital's worldwide sales.

o Digital is currently permitted by the U.S. Government to sell most of
its products in the PRC, with the exception of wide-area networks and
certain applications that have potential strategic sensitivity (i.e.
  military or nuclear).

Cayce's prediction was that China would become the new 'seat of
Cristianity". He also predicted that Russia would become a
democrary and a close friend of the US. Looks like both are
    possibilities.

THERE IS A BOOK CALLED "ROLLING THUNDER" WHICH IS A COLLECTION OF
PROPHETIC WORKS COLLECTED FROM VARIOUS SOURCES; INCLUDING CAYCE,
AND REVELATIONS. I SEEM TO RECALL IT SAYING THAT IN THE 90'S, THE
US AND EUROPE (INCLUDING RUSSIA) WOULD BE ENGAGED IN A WAR WITH
THE MOSLEM WORLD WHICH WOULD BE ALIGNED WITH CHINA.

I WOULDN'T HAVE THOUGHT THIS POSSIBLE TEN YEARS AGO, BUT THE MOSLEMS
ARE TRYING TO GET THEIR HANDS ON NUCLEAR AND CHEMICAL WEAPONS.
THESE WEAPONS DON'T REQUIRE MASSIVE INVESTMENT OR SOPHISTICATED DELIVERY
SYSTEMS. THE ACCEPTABILITY OF THEIR USAGE IS ENTIRELY BASED ON
A CULTURAL PERSPECTIVE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE IF A LARGE SEGMENT OF
YOUR POPULATION IS CONSIDERED EXPENDABLE; MARTYRS.

WITH THIS RECENT BACKLASH IN CHINA BY THE COMMUNISTS, I WONDER IF
CHINA MIGHT ACT OUT SUCH AN ALLIANCE BEFORE IT TURNS CHRISTIAN.
I RECALL THAT IN THE CONFLICT, CHINA WOULD SUCCUMB FIRST, AND THEN
    THE MOSLEMS.

REVELATIONS REFERRED TO AN ARMY 200 MILLION STRONG. CHINA WOULD
FIT AND IS OFTEN REFERRED TO AS THE PROBABLE ANSWER TO THE SYMBOL,
BUT THE MOSLEM WORLD HAS AROUND 700 MILLION. I BELIEVE THEY COULD
WELL BE THE SOURCE OF THE ARMAGEDEON ARMY. THEY CERTAINLY WILL
BE A PARTICIPANT IN ANY FINAL BATTLE FOR ISRAEL AND APPEAR TO BE
MOTIVATED TO SUCH IN THE RIGHT TIME FRAME.

    THAT'S ALL I'VE COME ACROSS.

If it were to be the Moslem world, it would only be the Shiite
faction which numbers well below 700 million. The other faction of
Moslems is at relative peace with the Western world and likes the
Shiites, about as much as the Iranian hostages did.

Good thinking though, I never thought of that.

This may or may not be of interest, but on Saturday during
    a 2-day workshop, Lazaris talked a bit about China. I didn't take
many notes and my memory isn't up to quote standards, but he did
say that China is the place where a peaceful world will begin. Also,
that the Chino-Soviet relationship would improve as a result of
the Chino-American bond. He added (in talking about the impact
one person can have, I believe) that 100 years from now, what would
be remembered distinctly is the individual who single-handedly stopped
the tanks...along with a few other images of a single person changing
history. Whether or not anyone ever knows your name, you can and
*do* have an impact. I don't remember all he said, obviously, but
he also talked about the continuance of tragic events and dischord,
although eventually this kernel of transmutation would take effect.

    TC,

Your reference to the 'Armagedeon army' made me feel uneasy...do
you mean that this prophecy referred to the end of the world? Up
until that comment I was thinking the 'war' would be a 'small one'.
    Could you clarify?

    Thanks,

.11 If you are still there...

I recall the 200 million army as being Biblical in origin. I don't
believe it will be the end of the world. I think the Bible talks about
a thousand year reign of Christ after his return. The war along
with pestilence, plagues and famine (4 horseman of the Apocalypse) are
to claim two thirds of the world population; that is not 100%, not the
    end.

However, I don't expect to be around DEC much longer. TC
