1006.0. "crystal shops" by WILLEE::HAMMOND () Mon Mar 20 1989 17:23

I was wondering if anyone knew of any crystal/bookshops in the Marlboro
area besides Native Spirits in Sudbury. I know all the ones in Salem
and Arlington/Cambridge. I'd just rather not have to travel so far.
    thanks,
    kim

Note 413.last has directions to The Alchemist in Hudson MA, just
down the road from Marlboro. Great book selection, so-so crystal
selection, lousy food selection (although they *do* carry seitan...
always a plus in my book).

Happy hunting.

1006.2Thanks, but...WILLEE::HAMMONDFri Mar 24 1989 15:185
    RE .2,
Thanks for the info, but I have already been there, and I wasn't
impressed. I guess the Unicorn and Seven Stars have spoiled me.
    thanks again,
    Kim

I know of a crystal/bookshop in Lowell on Bridge St. across the
street from the Market Basket. Also, there is another one at the
Nashua Mall that just opened a few months ago.

I've been to the one in Lowell, and it's great. As for the Nashua
    one I haven't been yet.

    Kim, have you tried:

The New England International Gem Co.
    	137 Littleton Rd. (Rte. 110)
    	Westford, MA 508-692-8266
    	10:30 am - 4:30 7 days a week

It's a small building next to the Westford Flea Market. This place
is not very fancy but oh the treasures one can find. If you really
want to get some nice pieces, prepare to spend a few hours going
through trays of crystals. They have quite a few _rough_ pieces
but boy can you get a deal. They have quite a bit of smokey, rose,
blue, clear, amethyst quartz (I mean chunks of the stuff) right
now and they sell the larger pieces by the pound. If you're willing
to spend a little time picking through, some very nice pieces may be
    yours for a song.

The prices are good and the people very helpful and informative.
Don't get me wrong they also have some very nice tumbled and a few
gem quality stones. There are also supplies to do some jewelry making
though I prefer to get mine at Bond Unlimited in Lexington.

Sorry to have rambled on so but I just came from there the other
day with a beautiful phantom terminated quartz; a blue, a black, a
green and some watermelon tourmalene; a tumbled smokey quartz and
a terminated smokey quartz chunk and an amethyst cluster. It was
all for under $20. (I actually had a few dreams about the phantom.
When I got to the store I walk right in a found it immediately. The
ironic thing about it, is that it was not with any of the other
phantoms. If you go there you'll understand why I am so amazed
that I walked right up to it.)

    Happy hunting!

I stopped in at a place in Dunstable, Mass. over the weekend, and they
have *beautiful* stones! The place had really clean energy, and they
had ropes discounted to as low as $3 for some of them. About half the
store is just stones, and the other half is jewelry - both the strands
of stones and already finished pieces. Definitely worth a visit.
It's right in the center of town.
