Can you please fly by and pick me up? :-)

Maybe we could put it on DVN (Dejavu Video Network). Then us 'out-of-towners'
could enjoy it too!

I have a question. Since I have never been to one of these gatherings,
I don't know. How many people might just show up at one of these
    functions.

Marion (who might have more than idle curiosity)

    Marion,

You mean you want to talk about the actual *topic*? (;^)

There were about 15-20 at the Halloween party which was at my house
and I think about 40 or so at the later gathering at Mary Pare's
    house. Is this about right?

If you're considering hosting it, I can tell you that the leftovers
    were great - especially Dave Doucette's cookies....yum!

I'd be psyched to go...but haven't a house to offer. Keep my posted
    on the possibilities, though.

I would love to attend as well, but unfortunately couldn't fit
comfortably 40+ people in a one bedroom apartment in downtown
Boston to host the party, besides...where would you all park?

I'll be there if and where there is a there.

Do we all think it would be best held in a public park and share
a "community picknick" of sorts, or would it be better to have it
in the privacy of sombody's back yard?

769.16Someone looking for a party?HPSCAD::DDOUCETTEThe WP is mighter than the GunMon Jun 27 1988 20:1071
Well folks, before I went on Vacation last week (up at Bar Barbor in Maine)
I posted this in Tem Noon's Cabin. Considering that the response has been
pretty low, I thought about adding DEJAVUers to the list. . . Also since
people are already looking for a spot to meet anyway. ;-)

Yes Cindy, there will be cookies.

Send me mail if you're interested, below is the posting from the cabin.

The soft summer breeze stirred the dew-covered leaves which glistened in
the early morning sunlight. Through open windows, their shadows danced
along the cabin floor while the curtains softly waved as if to greet the
new day. A corner of a loose page flapped in slow motion, as if it knew
that any faster motion would upset the tranquillity. All was quiet in the
cabin. All that could be heard was the whisper of the breeze through the
trees and the chirp of a distant robin.

The cabin door swung slowly, you couldn't tell if if was from the wind,
some other external force, or the door was opening itself to greet some
invisible guest. Slowly, the door swung closer to the wall until a faint
tap on the wall was heard.

A gray beam of light appeared in the doorway of the cabin. The two meter
long beam jerked up down while leaning sideways and jumping off the floor.
As the beam jumped into mid-air it changed in size, as if something was
attempting to break out of it. The line appeared like someone playing with
the vertical hold of the television set. While the beam continued it's
electric dance, a hissing could be heard originating at the doorway. The
noise sounded like the static of an FM tuner set to an off station.

Within a few seconds, the image of a man snapped into existence. At the
same time a brass band from a carnival could be heard originating from the
doorway. The man wore a red and white stripped suit with a matching straw
hat covering his curly brown hair. He held a bamboo cane and twirled it
between the fingers of his right hand.

"Hurry, hurry, hurry!" he cried, "Step right up folks for the second Tem
Noon farewell party on the shores of wonderful Lake Hiawatha: A resort so
exclusive that the lake doesn't appear on just _any_ map." The cane
slipped off his fingers and through his hand until the hook rested in his
palm. He pointed the cane out into to the invisible crowd of the cabin.
"Say hello to Tem Noon himself, and his human sidekick; Ed Bernstein.
Visit Dave Doucette, in his year-round cottage. Meet Tiny of Hiawatha, the
giant five month old puppy, known as Tyne to those who can get close to
her. This puppy doesn't weigh twenty pounds, it's doesn't even weigh
thirty pounds, you wouldn't even be close if you said it weighted forty
pounds. We're talking Sixty, yes, Sixty pounds of playful Newfie puppy."

"So bring some food, bring some drink, bring some water toys (like
offspring and SOs), but most importantly BRING YOURSELF to Dave Doucette's
house in Blackstone, Massaschusetts on Saturday, July 16th 1988 (raindate
July 17th)." He tapped the cane on the floor. "It's just ten minutes from
495, four minutes from Woonsockett, R.I. and a half hour south from
Marlboro and Framingham. Act now by sending mail to HPSCAD::DDoucette.
Space is limited!"

The man put both hands on the hook of the cane while he placed the end on the
floor to make a perfect equilateral triangle with his heels. A smug smile
appeared on his face as he collapsed into a vertical line. The line
disappeared into a glowing white dot that emitted a halo. Slowly the halo
faded, and then the dot faded away.
