740.0. "But Seriously" by MTBLUE::DUCHARME_GEO () Tue May 17 1988 18:46

(For best results the theme song from Willie Wonka and the)
(Chocolate Factory should be played in the background)

A hand book for new age thinking

The purpose of this book is to be a handy reference
guide for those faced with the challenges of new age
thinking.

The first thing the potential new ager needs to do is
go to the local book store and look for the occult section.
Purchase a book that interests you and read it.Fascinating
isn't it.Think about the ideas and parts of the book you
really liked.Do not try to find facts or proof for any
of the ideas. This is hard for many people who are used to
having reasons for the things they believe, but if you
really work at it, I think you will find that you will be
able to believe all kinds of things that make you feel good.
The next time you see someone homeless remind yourself it
is their karma or that this is a situation they have set up
for themselves for growth reasons.See how good it feels to
pick beliefs that feel good and isn't it good to know that
we never really die.I know it is a relief for me.

Now that you have convinced yourself to believe those
things that feel good, you are ready for a variety of interests.

Channeling is popular right now here are some examples.

The art of left handed spinach are convinced when
suspended by substandard myth.It is the exactness of
the dissimilarity that protrudes and contains the
necessary volume. When the finite becomes a statistic
volume one can systematically infer a preferred balance.

The importance of the previous paragraph should be obvious.
always check your transmit and receive frequency (baud rate)
before channeling.

I have a close friend who became very proficient at
channeling and became very close friends with a number of
entities. He told me that he goes drinking with Elvis usually
on Fridays. When he breaks into song you can feel Elvis's
presence. If you do not want to channel you can go and see some
one who does or buy the vcr tape.Just think maybe you will get
to talk to Elvis.

Crystals are also popular. You can purchase them where you
buy your books, or if you have a gravel drive way ,look
around it for rocks. Hold them in your hand and see how you feel.
If you feel silly it is because the rock you have picked up is
a giggle rock.Separate the rocks that make you feel the same way
into piles.Make sure you continue to add to your collection of
giggle rocks until you have enough for a good laugh.

Astrology is another fascinating interest of many new agers.
An exact map of where the planets were when you were born
is drawn up.If you have planets directly across from each other
or in a 90 degree square that's bad,but some angles are good I
hear it is very good to have 120 degree angles.I had my chart
done and nearly all my planets are opposite or 90 degrees of
each other,I started to feel bad so I decided not to believe
in it,get the idea.If you have lots of good angles and decide to
believe in astrology make sure you check your paper daily for
the horoscope section, this divides all of the people on earth
into 12 groups and tells you what kind of a day each group
will have.

If there is a devilish side to you, you can learn to make
potions and cast spells.I am told that it is not the potions
themselves that do the trick it is the focusing of the mind
during the ritual or process of making the potion.Another
words the witches tools are aids in focusing the mind.
If I want to cast a spell I take out the latest issue of
Playboy and check out the center fold, it sure focuses my
mind.Of course you need to find out what works for you.
Remember be careful you might get what you ask for.

My friend and Elvis are heading out this weekend as they
always do, they go toward a horizon that is not limited by
facts or reason, but extends to the very edges of their own
imaginations and doesn't that feel good.

I suppose that whomever wrote this would rather pick a belief system that makes
him/her feel bad??

Any belief system can be taken to its most comfortable extent, or to its worst
extent, and those who would not have you have your own belief system, will try
and find ways to pick at it. But, with what do they want to substitute it?

Think about it!

I think it was tongue-in-cheek, too, but this morning (before my real hour of
waking up, which is noon) my humor mode was set=low. Somebody, somewhere,
probably really does think that way.

on the lighter side, here's something George Carlin said...

"The guy we think is God...is just the Western Marketing Manager! God? He's
too busy throwing fireballs around the firmament!" {assume attitude of God
talking} "Earth? Oh yeah, Earth. What day is it; Sunday? My one day off, and
they're all gathering in church...(mumblemumblemumble)...Day off, my a**!!"

 >reply .2,.11 Steve I loved your replies,they really made
               me laugh.

 >reply .3 Do not worry Cindy ;^)

I must admit I was a little angry when I started writing the
base note, but I was laughing by the end of it.I do not want to
disappoint the skeptics, but I know from personal experience that
at least some types of psychic phenomena are real.
Many of the people I have known who have psychic ability,
some of whom are the most beautiful people, have a good deal of
flexibility of mind,if someone says I found that wearing a
hat to bed increases prophetic dreams, they give it a try.I
think of them and some of the noters here as explorers.Instead
of sailing on ships to new lands they are exploring other new
frontiers and coming back with incredible stories. Many have
little concern with proving anything. The real benefit from
the explorers is that they find things that the factual, test it
people do not find, because they would never look where they are
certain nothing exists.
After the explorers find something that does not fit into the
model that the factual, test it people have made,of how everything
works. The factual ,test it people get upset. They worked hard on
their model and their is a group of people that sleep with hats
on trying to tell them it is wrong.Eventually the factual types
check it out, figure it out,and update their model of how everything
works. They then tell the explorers how it really is.But by this time
the explorers are off exploring some place else.
Now regarding the base note.I am blesses or cursed as the case
may be with having a good portion of both explorer and factual,
test it tendencies.I at times get frustrated with those exploring
for what appears to my factual, test it side as a disregard for
evidence and proof.Hence the base note.At other times I become
very frustrated by the factual test it people and what appears
to my explorer side as an unwillingness to really check into
what the explorers are saying because the model they have worked
so hard on says it can not be so.I hope this helps clarify things.

Why didn't you say that in the first place??? :-)...

We all need a bit of test-it attitude or else nobody would be
able to understand us. It's grounds us enough to help figure
out the why's of what seems to be going on in our 'world'.

The orignal note (no matter the intent) was funny ;-).
