The Free Spirit Alliance, a networking group for positive-minded pantheists
(and open-minded people of _all_ religious/philosophical views), invites
you to their 1988 Summer Festival.
The theme of this year's festival is the "union of opposites" that takes place
at the Summer Solstice, when the rising powers of the Lady and the Lord
combine in a sacred marriage that balances and completes them both. The
symbol used is the Tarot Trump "Temperance".
WHEN: Thursday, June 16 to Sunday, June 19, 1988. Village meeting at 3pm
Thu., opening circle at dusk, closing circle at 10am Sun. Arrive
after 9am Thu., but we must leave by noon Sun.
WHERE: Camp Ramblewood, a lush 160-acre summer camp in upper Maryland. It
has flush toilets, hot showers, large cabins, plenty of open and
shady space for tents, athletic courts and playgrounds, two large
swimming pools (we need lifeguards w/current W.S.I.!!!!), a rec
hall w/stage, and space for a sweatlodge.
Activities include but are not limited to: rituals, men's and women's
circles, bardic circle, workshops, and musical entertainment. If you would
like to teach a workshop, send a concise description by May 1, and you will
be included.
We invite covens and other groups to hold open rituals. Send a description
by May 1 if you are interested in sharing your tradition this way.
Performing artists should send descriptions and/or tapes.
Merchants are welcome and there is _no_ commission required of them. We
cannot be responsible for goods left unattended.

some things to add:
the festival is _not_ just for wiccans, pagans, pantheists, etc. all
open-minded people are welcome. if you have something to teach us, odds
are that someone will listen. no evangelists of any faith need apply.
illegal drugs are frowned upon. no judgements- we just *like* the site and
want to keep it. likewise, it is requested that alcohol use be minimal and
legal. there will be smoking/non-smoking/don't care cabins.
clothing is optional and the emphasis is on choice. costumes, jewelry,
anything goes. the range is from stark naked to mundie duds, with
everything between.
there is something for everyone here. women's, men's, straight, gay, lesbian,
and celibate's spirituality. tai chi, tarot, runes, i ching, mysticial and
religious traditions from all over the world. concerts and jamming. dancing
in the moonlight, bonfires, circles and solemn invocations. discussions
of feminism, environmentalism, the politics and philosophy of paganism. If
you think you won't find it here, and think it's important, bring it along.
