From my blue DEC-issued dictionary:
different - adj. 1. Unlike; dissimilar. 2. Distinct; separate.
3. Unusual; distinctive.
While every person on the face of the earth is still human (and
part of the same), every person is also different to some degree
(even identical twins because they each encounter different life
situations unless they spend every moment together for the rest
of their lives).
Therefore, the word different does not mean 'better' or 'worse'
or 'elitist', nor was there an implication in this direction.
And if the responses to the topic are identical to the responses
to the same topic in the other conferences, then I will stand
corrected.

Bruce,
Having thought about this last night, I would like to say that I
see a bit more clearly the point you were trying to make.
There are so many times when people (all of us at some point) attempt
to make themselves 'superior' to others, thus making the others
feel 'inferior', and this is when we all get into problems.
Sorry about that.
