| Creating a conference is really very easy (everyone should do
it ;-)
Notes> CREATE CONFERENCE notefile-spec
According to the _Guide to VAX Notes_ (CD-33) this will create
the conference in the NOTES$LIBRARY directory of your node. The
.NOTE file type is is supplied automatically. You will be automatically
installed as moderator of this new conference.
If you want to create the conference in your own directory,
then you must supply the device and directory with the notefile-spec.
If you don't have privledges to create a file in NOTES$LIBRARY,
then you have to do this.
There's a good chance the file will be protected when its created.
If you want network access, then you need to make the file world
ReadWrite-able. This can be done at the DCL prompt:
$ SET PROT=(W:RW) device:[Directory]notesfile-spec.NOTE
If you want to to get fancy, like restrict access, set up ACL's
for protection, well, get the book.
Once you've created the conference, you have to tell people
where it is. To announce it to the whole E-Net, put a note in the
conference TLE::EASYNET_CONFERENCES, and within a week you'll be
on the master list of all conferences. If you don't want to do this,
then don't.
