493.0. ""Witchboard" (the movie)" by STING::MOREAU () Mon Sep 21 1987 19:21

This past weekend was made for staying home and watching movies.
Well, I'm into horror flicks so I rented "Witchboard" and "The Entity".
I didn't like The Entity that much though it was based on a true
story. Witchboard, on the other hand, I thought was a great movie.

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen Witchboard and, if so, what kind
of feedback do you have for it?

    Thanks,

I saw Witchboard and thought it was trash. The plot was boring and the
effects very cheap and sparse. There was never any suspense. I
    suggest people save their money.

See note 332 for discussion/review of this film.

As I noted elsewhere, the television version (with most of the rape
scenes eliminated or reduced) was a _lot_ better than the "uncut"
version. However, although the film states that it was based on
a factual incident, the book that the film was based on was classified
a novel, nor did _it_ state that it was based on true events.

I discussed this with a well-known parapsychologist who can't relate
the goings-on in the film to any actual incident he's familiar with.

    RE: .2

It is very loosely based on something that happened to a Mexican
girl (I believe). To my knowledge, no rape was involved.

Diane it reminded me of you using the board by yourself although
not so dramatically. I liked it.

I liked it too. Although I would have liked it to have a better
    ending then it did.
