395.0. "The Rainbow Gathering" by LEZAH::BOBBITT (Festina Lente - Hasten Slowly) Thu Jun 25 1987 14:58

I am not sure if any of you have heard of The Rainbow Gathering of Tribes,
but it occurs annually at various sites in the country. This year
I believe it will be in Tennessee (see below). It sounds like a
great time, and it has been described to me as a "wonderful group
of earthy-crunchy caring people getting together for a week and
sharing". It will be happening from July 1-7. I will not be attending
(but I plan to next year), but if enough people wish to go, perhaps
it would make sense to arrange transportation together, share camping
equipment, etc. Since I hadn't seen this posted anywhere in here,
I figured it might interest some, as it is an open invitation.

We come together in the cathedral of nature to exchange ideas, express
opinions, share, teach and learn. On july 4th at noon we circle in silence
for an hour to ask, each in our own way, for the peace and healing of
our planet. If you cannot be with us, please join us in spirit and
circle locally.

Howdy folks! We, sisters and brothers, children of light, friends
of nature, humbly invite all peacful beings to attend the 16th annual
rainbow family of living light world peace and healing gathering to be held
in the southern appalachians, July 1-7 1987.

		    RAINBOW GATHERING OF TRIBES

The gathering is absolutely free and non-commercial. Food,
medical supplies and other neccesities are supplied by donations to our
commonwealth - the magic path. Our banking council maintains open books.
We have a tradition of freely giving and sharing. Each of us can
sanctify the gathering by excluding money changing in the temple.
Beyond your personal expenses outside the gathering and whatever you
freely and lovingly give to the magic path, no money is needed at our
gatherings.

We govern by consensus and peacful respect. Our council meets daily as
a public forum - open to everyone to participate. The gathering is a
participatory workshop in self government. Workshops space will be
available for free exchange, IE political, ecenomic, artistic, ecological,
healing, technilogical, dance, spiritual, etc. The family does not
endorse any specific spiritual or political viewpoint. We welcome them
all. No solicitation of funds by individuals and/or groups please.

Kid villiage occurs through parential participation, which enables

Thanks, Jody for entering that. I had heard (at a Medicine Story
workshop) that the Rainbow Gathering would be in the Northeast this
year. Do you have any information on the gathering itself? Is it in
    July?

    Thanks,
