317.0. "Corporate Chart, Any?" by ZANNA::DELVALLE () Thu Feb 26 1987 20:42

    Hi there,

A fellow engineer just installed the Notes system last week in Puerto
    Rico, and I wondered if there would be any topics in Astrology;
I'm glad to see people at DEC interested in one of my major
    preocupations since 1982.

Well, I'd like to know if somebody has ever figured out a chart
for DEC as corporation; What's the 'birth' data?

    Welcome Roberto,

There are a few noters who are interested in Astrology - check the
    following notes: 313, 292, 197, 151, and 29 - though there are
other astrology references within notes dealing with other subjects.

I have never seen any information on Digital's "birth chart", however,
I would be very interested in checking it out too!

    Regards,

    Carole

Anything that has a point of origin in time and space can be
analyzed using astrology ... particularly those entities that
are composed of living beings (nations, corporations, etc.).

    1) The tenants of astrology are the 12 signs and the various planets.
    ;-)

    2) If you accept judicial astrology, it ought to work on corporate
entities as well as incarnate ones. But what defines "birth"?
Date of organization? Date of incorporation? Date of first public
    issuing of stock?

    Hmm ...

A chart can be cast not only for the event of a "human birth"..
it can be cast for the "birth" of any event, a corporation, a
nation, a relationship, a house, etc.

We're moving to a new house within the next two weeks and I plan
to cast a chart for the house at the point that the final paper
is signed at the closing. I will then look at the chart to get
a feel for what the energy of the house will be like.

There is a birth chart for the United States based, I believe, on
the signing of the Constitution (I'm not sure if this was the
document signing used - anyone else know for sure?), and current
planetary transits to that birth chart can be tracked and analyzed
to see how current events with be effected, as well as what the
mood of the nation will be.

Zodiac signs are also connected to countries. I am not sure
how this was established, however an knowlegeable astrologer friend
of mine was discussing in a class she gave that Capricorn "rules"
India. Almost to the day that the very slow moving planet Neptune
entered the zodiacal sign Capricorn, the Bopal accident occurred.
Neptune, among many other things, rules leaks of any type. I just
found that piece of information very interesting and stored it
    away in my memory.

This type of astrological study is usually called "mundane astrology".

Mundane astrology probably predated the more familiar natal astrology.
Natal astrology grew out of the "mundane" forecasting of the
consequences of a significant event for a "country" (city/state
actually) -- the birth of a new heir to the rulership. This started
to be applied to less and less important people until we arrive
    at the current situation.

Their are astrologers who specialize in the area of corporate
astrology. Given DECs prominance I would be surprised if *someone*
either at DEC, at one of its competitors, or one of its (potential)
investors has not had it (*very* quietly) done. I only vaguely
remember, but I believe that for a corporation (as opposed to other
types of business organizations) the "natal" horoscope is drawn
up from the signing of the letters of incorporation. Companies
have been known to wait for an auspicious time for incorporation,
or to formally disolve and reincorporate a company on the advise
    of astrologers.

I would suspect that Marcia will be able to provide us with more
information when she gets back and gets caught up.

317.7Casting DEC's ChartNATASH::BUTCHARTThu Mar 05 1987 15:2350
I have not closely studied the field of Mundane Astrology, being
mostly concerned with what is now called Humanistic Astrology.
I have, however, often pondered the question of what time consti-
tutes the "start date" of an entity like a corporation. All the
questions about date of incorporation, first shares sold, first
product sold, etc., are interesting possibilities. My guess is
that most mundane astrologers base a company's birthdate on its
date of incorporation. I myself would be inclined to consider the
date that work actually begins as the birthdate; this stems from
the practice in casting a human being's (or animal's) chart for
the moment of the first breath. This is our first _act_ we perform
as an independent entity; it seems that the first act a company
performs in its intended business would be a similarly significant
date. There is also a practice that I've read about where charts
are cast for an entity on all dates significant to it; by comparing
and contrasting them, a mundane astrologer gets a more complete
picture. I've read a case history on the Titanic, for example.
The chief dates that charts were cast for regarding that ship included
the start of its construction, the laying of the keel, the moment when
it was pushed from drydock to the water, the date of its fatal voyage.
All the charts (including those of its architect and captain!) were
badly stressed, in such a way as to indicate a lack of foresight.

What would be interesting for study purposes would be to find out
all the dates of the events mentioned in the previous replies:
date of incorporation, work starting, first shares sold, decision
(by Ken) to form the company (although that would probably be a
featured event of his own chart), etc. What I'd want to do is cast
charts for all those dates, then examine each in light of succeeding
events to see which one seems to "hold up", or represent the
corporation. I bet that in any important chart for DEC, Jupiter,
Uranus and Mercury would have been prominent. Those are planets
that pertain to technological industries, and especially computers.
BTW, the Jupiter-Uranus square that I described in Note 313 (which
has been building since last fall) has had an interesting effect on
our business, stock and media image, no?

I got a good laugh out of thinking about Edson DeCastro or An Wang
poring over our company's chart! I suspect Steve may be right on
that score, though. I'd be surprised if it was not done at some
time. Wonder what birth date would have been used?

Anyway, can anyone provide me with dates of the events I've mentioned,
events in previous replies, or ones that no one has yet mentioned?
    This could be interesting . . .

    Marcia

PS. I did DEJAVU's chart and the date and time I used was the moment
of the actual creation of the notesfile by Dave Stanley.

    Just to clarify -

if anyone does have the date(s), please post the info here.
I would like to take a look at the data myself at my leisure.

    Thanks, Carole
