142.0. "Gathering Gossip?" by USHS01::MCALLISTER (The Shadow Knows ...) Mon Jun 02 1986 12:38

    Hi,

    For the sake of the folks who couldn't attend the gathering (I wanted
    to but it was a bit too far to commute) how about a synopsis ?

    Thanks

    It was pretty nifty, at once a companionable and disturbing scene
    to find myself in. Here were all these people I'd corresponded
    with on ideas of personal importance, and I'd never seen them!
    But I got a chance to eat some great food, to do a chart reading,
    to meet other practitioners of their arts, to listen to some good
    converse (and hopefully contribute to some). At the end, all us
    crystal hounds were happily showing our special rocks to each other.

    	Dorian, Coori, Terrin, and I all had a wonderful time. The food
    was wonderful and in abundance. I got to play my drums, and had
    people to jam with, and even got to do "Glass Remembers" a few times.
    Met many people and got to talk to quite a few. I'm looking forward
    to the next one. The kids were completely blitzed on glucose, but
    they managed to not get lost in the woods.

    	The location was great, and Chuck was a wonderful host. In the
    woods, cool, didn't rain, and on the way back home, we saw a gorgeous
    sunset.

    Pleasant conversation, lots of talk. Though I had to run a little
    early, it certainly was nice to talk to folk I'd only known as patterns
    of alphanumeric characters transiently glowing in phosphor before.

    The road to Chuck's was an adventure, too!

142.5It was great, and goodbye!HYSTER::HITCHCOCKChuck HitchcockMon Jun 02 1986 20:0016
I just want to thank everyone for providing such wonderful energy
for my house this last Saturday, it was a real treat.

Alas, June 12th is my last day at Digital. I'm leaving for a
month of gatherings around the country then coming back to
continue free lancing in marketing communications, only not for
DEC (I've been a contractor for two years--that's enough!).

I'm sure at some point in the future I'll be back and will sign
on to make a contribution. In some sense, I'm already doing
that.

I do hope the gathering does become at least an annual event.

Peace and light,
Chuck
142.6I missed it!!! :-(WFOVX3::ESCARCIDAMon Jun 02 1986 20:4111
    After reading the previous replies it is pretty obvious that I missed
    one GREAT party. Unfortunately for me my Toyota decided to give
    me radiator problems and living in Westfield Ma made it too far
    away to take a chance especially with the warm weather that day.
    But my thoughts were with all of you. Hope there is a next one.......
    Will there be?

    By the Way, Good luck Chuck!

142.7Made it and glad I did! :-)AKOV05::GALVINTue Jun 03 1986 12:036

    I for one, had a marvelous time and met a lot of great people.
    even met someone that lives in the same town that I live in (Ed
    and Dorian). I was a bit nervous at first, not being a contributor
    and all, but that was soon over. I'm definitely voting to make
    this an annual affair.
142.8I put off deciding untill the last minute, but ...CYCLPS::BAHNTue Jun 03 1986 22:5711
In spite of earlier concerns, I made it to the Gathering and am glad that I did.

Although I talk a lot (Aries, Gemini rising with a Libra Moon ... what else
would you expect?), I'm basically rather shy about meeting new people and, like
Fran, I haven't contributed to DEJAVU very much. As it turned out, I met a
number of very nice folks who share many of my interests. (That's the way such
things usually work out ... you'd think I'd learn.)

If the DEJAVU Gathering does become an annual event, I'll do my best to attend.

    Linda, Vera and I had a great time. I didn't get to meet or talk
    to everone but I really enjoyed talking to those that I did meet.
    People have been mentioning that they hope this will become an annual
    event, why not a semi-annual event? I don't want to wait a whole
    year to meet those that I missed. Maybe sometime after summer (when
    everyone's through with vacation). Take care and I look forward
    to seeing you all again.

142.10Do it again!!STOWMA::ARDINIFrom the third plane.Wed Jun 04 1986 13:498
    	I'm really sorry I misse this get-together. When this file
    started I was an active reader and contributor but other things
    have drawn me away from it. And now that I've come back I see I
    missed this great meeting of the minds. Please plan another meeting
    soon. I'm eager to associate some faces with all the fascinating
    inputs.

142.11Why not have Gathering II sooner?WFOVX3::ESCARCIDAWed Jun 04 1986 15:455
    It was ironic that after initiating the Gathering note I didn't get to
    come so I strongly endorse Jorge's suggetion about having another
    one soon; hopefully this time I should have another car. :-)

	    I agree. Let's not be strangers (-:). We've got several
	months of good weather still to come.
