| I suppose that in the first note I may have sounded very interested
in finding out for myself if I had the talent. However, I'm not
sure I really meant it that way. Even if I found out that I had
it, I'm not so sure I'd try and nurture it. I'm easily frightened.
What I did mean to do, however, was to open up avenues to others;
people who may have had the same question and not yet expressed
it. I kept wondering, many people here are talking about a thing
called "the talent", yet does everyone really understand what others
are talking about? It seemed to be a question that was just "asking"
to be asked!
As for .1 and .2, thank you so much for your information. Perhaps
I even may try to find a psychic and see if I do. My dreams of
things to happen in the future that really do happen soon after
are really too infrequent to make anything out of, but who knows,
right? I'm certainly not as good at it as .1!

| Being the file's astrology student, I'm now having the pleasure
to look at the birth charts of people who are involved in some sort
of psychic related activity. A common thread that runs through
the charts I've seen is strong Neptune or Pisces energy. This emphasis
on Neptune and its sign can appear in a number of ways: some have
Neptune in strong aspect to the Sun, Moon, Mercury or the chart
ruler, some have Neptune for a chart ruler (this means that the
sign Pisces is on your Ascendent), some have Sun, Moon, Mercury
or the chart ruler in Pisces, some have Neptune conjunct one of
the chart angles, some have most of their planets in the Piscean
decanates of the signs in which they're placed -- my list is expanding.
Neptune is the energy that wants to expand the ego beyond your self-
constructed barriers to include the universe (which can spread you
pretty thin!). It is said to rule all states of consiousness other
than our normal waking state, which includes the dream state,
meditative states (alpha and theta) out-of-body experiences, even
mental disorders rising from a dis-integration of the personality.
On the negative side, it also rules the physical means (usually
poisons like drugs and alchohol) that we use to try for a "shortcut"
to those exalted states of consciousness. It is probably no accident
that some of the world's religions use drugs to reach the other-worldly
state.
The interesting detail I find emerging in the readings is being
able to figure out who most needs the precautions, the protective
rituals, a guru, an external anchor. Some people's strong Neptune
is not "anchored" internally, not connected by aspect to the planets
that represent the stronger, more self-directed energies in the
soul, like the Sun, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter. It seems that these
people will most benefit from psychic safety precautions. And it
also seems that the birth chart is one way to determine one's sensi-
tivity. What I am trying to evolve is a consistent way to distinguish
between pure Sensitives and Practitioners (i.e., magicians, sorcerers).
Haven't made any really strong correlations yet, but I'll certainly
enjoy the research. My intuitive feeling is that the Sensitives
have the greatest need for protections, in that they may be unable
to apply their wills to controlling the stimuli they receive. This
seems somewhat contrary to the more common belief that those who
are practitioners of some kind are in greater need of protection
because they venture into the dangerous areas by choice. If I were
a skydiver, I'd certainly learn how to pack my chute! But the skydiver
only needs to worry about his chute when (s)he's up there; someone
who has, say, a respiratory sensitivity to pollutants must be more
consistently vigilant to be sure they obtain pure air--every day.
About fear: there are many types of psychic experiences, and if
they involve somehow invoking outside forces, I would indeed feel
cautious. But I have lost my fear of the whole host of psychic
experiences that relate to _interconnections between people_. This
includes knowing that another person is going to call (and (s)he
does), knowing precisely what gift will please a person without
having subjected the subject to exhaustive analysis, the spirit
presence often reported with a loved one's death, the instinct that
causes one to rush to the other's aid without knowing anything is
wrong (but something is), the ability to know a person's deepest
self through the tools of astrology and Tarot, the ability to see
people's auras, to pick up on vibes . . . and the list goes on.
Perhaps the only caution regarding the Interpersonal Talents would
be to be _very_ aware when your own strings are being pulled. Knowing
thyself is a very good place to start (as was pointed out in the
Magic note).
