57.0. "Inst. for Noetic Science" by LASSIE::TBAKER () Thu Dec 26 1985 15:47

I have read references to the Institute of Noetic Science in this notes
file and was wondering what anyone knew about it.

What I know:
Noetic means "of, or existing or originating, in the intellect".

The Institute helps distribute a public radio program called
"Music from the Hearts of Space". Listen to it if you get a chance.

Thanks,
Tom

As far as I know, the nearest station that airs it is WEVO in
Concord, NH. (Saturday, Midnight)

Hearts of Space has a catalogue of recordings that you can get from them.
On the back of that is a listing of the radio stations that broadcast it.
Some of the stations and times that may be of interest follow:

	Colorado, Greeley. KUNC-FM	Sun. 10PM
	Connecticut, Hartford. WKPT-FM	Sun. 1AM
	Vermont, Burlington. WVPS-FM	Wed. 9PM

There are *many* others in most states. I don't want to type them all in
now but if anyone would like to know what's in their area you can send me
mail. From what I can tell from the listing, there is no place in Mass.
that broadcasts it.

This program, Music from the Hearts of Space is "an hour of contemporary
and traditional space music". The type of music played varies from acoustic
(piano, guitar, Paul Winter) to completely synthetic (Vangelis, Michael Sterns)
to a mixture of both. Always melo and tastefully done.
