11.0. "New Age Digest" by GRAMPS::LISS () Thu Sep 26 1985 19:33

For those of you who are interested, there is a New Age Digest which
comes over from "the other side". Kidding aside, it comes over the ARPA
net once or twice a week. It can be ordered from either of the addresses
shown below. If you want a copy of the most recent issue, drop me a
note and I will forward it to you.

:-) The Neophyte will learn to use ARPA net addressing. :-)

Purpose: The New Age Digest exists to facilitate the exchange of ideas,
views, and techniques of esoteric religions and movements such as
Thelema, Wicca, Masonry, and so on. The digest is eclectic and
welcomes interested people of all religions. Only extra-ordinarily vile
messages will be rejected, but all messages are subject to spelling and
format correction (but NOT content editing). Anonymous messages will be
    transmitted on request.

What is the ARPA Net and how do I get in? Is it an electronic
mail service or what? I would definitely like to get this Digest. Please

I rather enjoy the New Age Digest, though it's stuck closely to Net.religion
more than any other. Thelema, for one, I don't consider a "religion," un-
less you have a thing for Aiwass; actually, it was founded by Alister Crow-
ley, who loved to consider himself "the Wickedest Man in the World," and
whose instructions in ceremonial magick had occasional booby traps for the
unwary. Wicca's another matter, and the Wiccan Creed is an excellent
variation of The Great Comandment. Ii's good reading, but like a lot of
other things in the area, its contents should be approached with a grain
of sodium chloride.

Steve Kallis, Jr.

P.S.: The moderator, Tim Maroney, seems like a good sort.

Jorge',

The ARPAnet is a the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)
network. It was one of the first major computer networks. The protocol
used on the ARPAnet is TCP/IP, which is supported on Ultrix and TOPS-20
but not as a normal thing on VMS.

There are gateways to the ARPAnet from Easynet. The use of these is
described in the GATEWAYS notes file at {ALIEN,BEING}""::SYS$NOTES:.

If a number of people are interested in this newsletter, it would be
better if just one were to receive it and either redistribute it or file
it in a publicly accessible location (e.g., a world-readable, owner-
writable notes file).

I believe, the New Age Digest, as such, has ceased to exist. I
haven't gotten an issue in well over a year.

There is, Talk.Religion.Newage. A much lower signal to noise ratio,
but occasionally something interesting. More often, it is about
    as useful as Soapbox.
