| Hi,
I just got a call from a customer who complained about the problem stated in
the base note.
I told him about the workaround suggested in the previous replies, but that
didn't seems to satisfy him...
He wanted to know if/when this restriction will be lifted.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ronen

| Hmmm.
I don't remember this issue. Tushar, who was an expert in this area is not
with Digital any longer. Since he didn't appear to see an easy fix, this
worries me.
I'll recap the probable problem for you to confirm. Ada, in V3.0, changed
the output of generated command files for Smart Recompilation. I believe
this was done "in case" changes were made to the library between the time
the user generated the command files, and when they were actually run.
User edits the generated command files to make results of compilations
go up in the path to the libraries from where the units live, not in the
currently set library.
Based on that above description of the problem, and on the fact that no
"easy" solution was seen previously, my solution to this would be to look
into adding a qualifier which would do what the user's trying to do; compile
units, and replace in whatever library they are entered in, rather than the
current library.
Note this is not thought out, or a commitment, merely, a restating of the
problem, with a quick thought of a possible solution. Since it would
be a new feature, it'd need more thought for a design, and would also need
to be scheduled with other planned DEC Ada deliverables.
