But there's even a story behind that little piece of prose.
When I was in freshman english in HS, I didn't really know what a
cliche was. I was also too embarrassed to ask (Even a young
Chainsaw has a lot of foolish pride).
Anyway, my teacher would deduct points everytime we used a cliche
in our compositions or essays. Well, I was getting zinged left
and right. Over the course of the first half of the year, I slowly
learned what a cliche was...
Once I had the hang of it, I got really good at the game, and put
a strong finish on a good year. Since then, I've tried to avoid
cliches in my writing like the plague.
However, every once in a while, I get the overpowering urge to
just dump out a good cliche.
So, there you have it. Next time I'll warn you when I feel
a cliche dump coming on....8^)
