    Denny,

Do you know how to get to the Mill in Maynard? The Bull is
right on Main street, across from the Mill. Up near the
Fish restaurant and Bike shop (away from downtown and
main entrance, it's close to Buildings 21 and 23.).

Mass pike to Palmer Exit....

After you pay your toll (asking for $1 bills in change)
Take a right at the end of the toll plaza.
Follow the signs for rt 20.
Basically this road curves to the right and after 2 ( ithink) sets of lights
you take a right where you can't go across the street (kentucky fried chicken
is on your right)
You'll reach an intersection where you can continue left onto rt 20 or veer right
onto rt 181 I believe. Stay left on 20 and follow it for 10 minutes or so until
you reach Magic Lantern.

It is on your right ( can't miss it )

OKay....

Since I'm on vacation that week, and since Beth asked me to keep
an eye on JD while he's out here (i.e. the ladies can look but
not touch), I'm gonna be there.

Can I get directions to the Sitting (Stud) Bull or where-the-heck-ever-it-is
from the Mass Pike (East Bound?)

What time will the festivities start????

Also, I'll be there at the Lantern. Being a veteran of the Lantern
I know all the tricks....

    Frank,
The guareenteeeeed way to not get lost - take the Rte 290 exit
off the Mass Pike, head for WOOOOSSTTTER - take 290 all the way
    to 495 norfbound - follow 495 until Rte 2 Eastbound - follow
to RTE 27 MAYNARD exit - bear right at end of ramp. Follow
27 through ACTON til you get to Maynard, take the right after the
Cumberland farms - go striaght at next set of lights, then bear
right at next intersection (This is DOWNTOWN Maynard) - you will
be on Main Street. The Mill will loom off to the left - on the
right you'll pass stores, a bar called Amory's, the Post Office,
a gas station - and VIOLA, the Sitting Bull is there on the
    right.

    Caint miss it.

I think JD's lats is squeezin' his brain, 'Saw.

The absolute easiest way, clearly, is to take the Rt. 117E exit towards
Stow, Maynard. About 3,4,5 miles down, as you approach Maynard Center,
there's a fork with a traffic light with a Mobil Station in the fork.
Bear left at this fork. Look for the Bull to be on your left as you
approach the Mill. If you go past the Mill, turn around!

    Sound right, JD?

    You're welcome.

ahem.. you forgot to mention the ALL crucial fact that 117 and
62 join each other. while on 117/62E at the fork (Mobil Station),
taking a left puts you onto 62, going straight puts you onto 117.
you must get onto 62 or else it's boston bound for you, bro! :)

Chainsaw, you usually have to wear clothes in Massachusetts' public
places. They aren't as liberal as Conn. Leave the Stihl, whips, and
chains at home. Wear your Paul Bunyan tux.

every Sat. night and every Sun. (brunch) except the 3rd Sun. of the
month. Now, every year, the weekend before Christmas, over the river
and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go....... :-)
This past weekend, I couldn't get Sat. night off, even though I wasn't
working Sun. anyway. So, the wife and kids went over the river ......
to Grandmother's house without me while I martinied and manhattaned
    customers into oblivion....... :-)

Anyway, I thought it would be a neat idea to surprise my 75 year old
mom with my kids, and me too, on a couple of my days off, which
includes the 28th. I'd already planned this with the kids before the
    28th was announced.

    mill today.

Mike P. - take 495 to rte 2 east, go to the rte 27 MAYNARD exit - go
right off the ramp - follow rte. 27 into Maynard - take a right onto
Nason Stree - which is after a convenient store/gas station (on right).
Follow Nason through one set of lights - at fork, bear right, this is
Main street - follow Main street about 1/4 mile - Mill is on the left,
Sitting Bull is off to the left.

Is there any interest in having a Superbowl Get together on January
    28th??

I would be willing to look for:

    1) a hotel that would provide a meeting/ball room with a couple of
large screen TVs and a bar and hot food.

    or

    2) a centrally located (Lowell??) hall and it would be BYOB with
donatiions for catering, 2-3 large screen TVs, etc. which would work
out to $20-25 per person to cover costs. (hall, food,tv)

I'd have to have a committment by the 5th to get everything in time for
    the SB.

I'm a seroiusly concerned about the length of his hair. I believe that

I'll be in Seattle from 1/19 to 1/27. For all intents and purposes

Only takes me 15 to get home and that is during traffic time.

Just go right up 27 past the credit union till you have to stop and turn left
   or right.

take a left (still rt 27)

go 300 yards to the light.

take a right

go until you get to a fork in the road (actually a 4 way intersection)
big white church on the left.

go straight.

when you hit the light in the center of town take a left onto rt 20.

3 dollar deweys is on the left.

can't miss it.....

Part of the reason may be the recent creation of the ASABET::BASEBALL

26.143A RED SOX GAME TRIP IN PLANNINGSALEM::KUPTONTue Feb 13 1990 10:5445
Would you be interested in joining some friends at Fenway Park for a pre-game
party and then attend a game?? If so, then read on. Just note that the Red
Sox don't give a lot of time to put these plans together. Also note that
June 30th is the Saturday before the 4th of July (which falls on Wednesday).

*******I NEED TO CONFIRM BY WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 14TH AT 12:00 NOON*********
***************SATURDAY JUNE 30TH TEXAS RANGERS*******************

At the moment the Diamond Room is ours. The room can be partitioned off
into three sections. We need a minimum of 50 people. That will be $300.

Tickets are all together in section 30 or 31. ---- $10 per person and we
get them with the room. Minimal cost = $16.00 per person with room.

Catering is available for between $12-$20 per person from ballpark stuff
to a lobster feed. I have to have the menu turned in two weeks before the
game.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

This is it...........$30 per person. That's food, room, tickets. Any extra
will be returned on the day of the game to all who attend. That will give
me $14 per person to work out the menu.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

I need a commitment by Wednesday Morning February 14th at 10:00 am. Anyone
who commits will be expected to follow it up with a check made out to me
within a week. I will not cash the checks for one month to allow everyone
to set aside $7.50 a week. I will then deposit them into a DEC Credit Union
account named RED SOX TRIP. I do not have the minimum $800 to spare out of
my pocket ($300 room, $500 tickets), so please don't say you'll go and fade
away after the money is due. I have 3 kids and what will surely be an ex-wife
if I get stiffed. Therefore, any money submitted will NOT be returned. If
you can't make it, you will have to sell your tickets. Once we commit for
the room, we must take it.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Please send me E-mail at SALEM::KUPTON

Okay.

I just wanted to inform you all that Rainer Forst, one of our
noters from W. Germany, will be over here starting week after next.

Since Rainer's primary interest is hockey, and since he likes the
Habs, I'm trying to set up a get together for 2/28 at the
Hartford Civic Center. That night, it's gOwHAle vs Habs...

This is gonna be tough, since I'm on vacation starting tomorrow
and all of nexted week.

Since I've had a ton of problems logging on from home, could
someone in here act as a liason, between me and all the folks
who might like to get together. If that person will be able to
give me a call sometime during the week nexted week, or several
times, we could coordinate a get together.

Home phone (203) 643-0361

I'm not sure if there are tix available, but there should be since
the whale has only sold out three times this year....

Let me know....

Well, I may be wrong, but the way I have it figured is that it
could be one in the same person.

okay, Marina is listed at 48, right? But Hawk et al said she
looked more like 38.

Well, basically we're talking the same type of thing that will
list a hockey player as 5'11", 175, when he's actually around 205.
Lying with figures. (Well, with the hockey player they just
use his Junior League stats)

If they take a raw chest measurement, it's conceivable she'll come
out at around 48, when in fact she looks a good 38. I used to
go out with this girl who always measured at 38-40. But really,
her bra size was 36B (nothing spectacular compared to the raw
measurement).

That would be my theory. Of course, I've never seen Marina, so
I'm just going on hearsay....

If JoJ's gonna have a going-away party, I think that some of us

Whatta ya say?

Hawk, are ya with me? Bull, whatta ya say? Are ya with me...

The only rules are that no one can start my chainsaw on the bus,
and that we draw straws for the female hitchhikers. The male hitchhikers
we can leave in NJ for Tony Easy-on, or in Cleveland for Bernice Kosar..

I'm easy on what kind of beer we take....

Gawd, I cain feel it now... jawin' on the CB, jammin' gears in
that ol yeller school bus. Listenin' to Bull belchin' in the back.
Havin' to look fer some nubile young heiffers as we head through
western PA.

Then through Illinos, hours upon hours of straight roads
as Hawk serenades us with the bottles of beer song, only with
his new found technoweeniedom, he'll sing it in hex... (Oh I love
it: AF bottles of beer on the wall, AF bottles of beer, take one
down, pass it around, AE bottles of beer on the wall....)

When we hit St Louis, we swing off to make a special stop at
Mecca. The (genuflect boys) Annheuser-Busch brewery. Having called
ahead, they let us pull up to the back, drop a hose into our
5000 gallon specially designed, TiG welded beer holding tank, and fill
up, while we partake of a few cold ones in the Hospitality Room.

Reboarding the bus, re-inserting our beer IVs from the tank, we
proceed across Kansas, looking for heiffers or female hitchhikers,
whichever comes first...

And finally, Colorado. Looks like we're not in Kansas any more,
as everything at the border turn Orange and Blue. The three of
us confirmed Giants fans puke at the site.

And then we find JoJ's party, and bring out the slightly soiled
T-shirt we brought as a present (sorry, but someone spilled a
little beer on the bus).... After the party, we load JoJ into

Scene:

	The HelBus, I-80, Western PA

While stopped to pick up some bourbon to go with our mass quantities of
beer, we were surrounded by State Trooper types, treasury agents and
CIA men.

It seems that they thought that our mass quantity of brew was actually
home brew, and that we were gonna "sell" it in Colorado. After a
heated discussion, wherein tempers were lost on both sides, a heated
gun battle broke out.

Well, it wasn't really a gun battle. They had guns, we had high pressure
beer hoses (normally used to wash any extraneous body candy off after
the orgies with female hitchhikers). Anyway, we held the G-men at bay
for quite a while.

Finally, A&W, in an action above and beyond the call of duty, managed to
get the bus in gear and rolling, with grave danger to her person.

Four hours later, we crossed the Canadian border.

In a few days, when we can ditch the bus, we'll be back at work.

IN the meantime, have a beer for us, eh?

The only hockey played in Colorado Springs is played by The Colorado
College Tigers and The United States Air Force Academy Falcons.
Neither one of them is in season now. Nor are the University of
Denver Pioneers. The New York Rangers at Washington Capitals will
probably be on SportsChannel America. If your local cable station
has Hockey Night in Canada or the feed from Quebec or even Channel
38, you may be in luck. I don't think the Bruins radio network
    reaches that far.

You can call me tonight for updates if you want, though.

you can size up your so-called friends like Markie and hit him up
    for a beer...."

sample the wares of the many picturesque street vendors along the
way, offering such haute cuisine items such as burnt sausage, dry
    pretzels, and goobers..."

"Enjoy the 18-0 pasting to be administered to the Red Sox, as you
sip discreetly upon exhorbitantly priced ox piss, warmed over chiens
chaud (the former being casually worn by many fans, who savor its
    fragrance and lush bouquet.)"

"Finally, just sit back and relax to the delightful din of deranged
inebriates hurling epithets toward the playing field and each other,
while taking occasional strolls to Fenway's exclusive indoor
waterfalls, where one can witness the world-class Baffroom Olympics."
[the picture of the overflowing urinal here is breathtaking, and
so is the odor, if you've never been there.]

Actually, espresso is pretty manly stuff. I mean, the way I see it
it's kinda like a caffeine shooter.

The only way you could get more caffeine into you would be to open
a vein and jams some coffee beans in there.

Espresso is the way I deal with jet lag on the first couple days of
a trip to Europe. Suck down a couple of caffeine shooters... you don't
need speed or anything else.

Now, I don't know about Lufay, or his buddy Serge (who makes it himself,
right?) but around these parts, toofless, non-bearded, short-haired
mountain men say it's okay to drink espresso....

Well, two outta three is a little better. Now you'd be doing
well as an NFL QB.

But I still ain't no yuppy!

As a matter of fact, after a good night out Friday, I had to find
a cash machine. (Needed to stop at BK for a snack on the way home).
Anyway, the only cash machine around was near this yuppy bar in
Glastonbury.

So, I drive in to go to this cash machine, and I start seeing
all these yuppy cars. A strange, destructive feeling came over me,
and my pulse and respirations quickened. I reached behind the
seat of the pickup, and found the Louisville Slugger that I keep
there for, uh, um, emergencies. Suddenly, the urge to despoil all
those yuppie vehicles was too great.

Reaching into the glove compartment for my survival knife, I knew what
I had to do. At this point, little flecks of foam were starting
to form at the corners of my mouth.

Just as I was about to burst forth from my truck, raving autocidal
maniac that I'd become, to despoil, desecrate, slash and bash the
SAAB 9000S with the crystal hanging from the mirror, that was sitting
in front of me, one of Glastonbury's finest pulled around the
corner on routine patrol.

Just as suddenly, I snapped to my senses, and remained in my car...

But, that should tell you how I feel about yuppies.....

Argghhhh!!!

Jeff, you sly dog, don't pull that one on us unsuspecting types.

Just because I have a bar near me that will open early if I'd like
it to, doesn't mean I'm going to fall for that ol' get to the Rat
early line.

The Rat doesn't open until 0900 hrs.

Oh yes, and for those of you who are averse to drinking before noon,
you should be aware that if you arrive at the Rat at 1100 hrs,
it will clearly be after noontime in any place in the Atlantic
time zone, as well as in England, France, and Germany, so that you
should feel free to drink.

Paul, if you puke, please don't do it on my shoes. I have to

your shoes is so uncouth....

Hawk, I'll be bringing someone also, so I'll have to leave my
freakin' lunatic hat at home. In addition, I'll be driving
to the party, so I'll not be able to imbibe to excess as I could
the last time when my other brother Jimmy was driving.

I may, however, bring a beach ball, and some sunscreen. I mean,
there are parts of my haid that haven't seen the sun in 10 years,
so I have to be careful of getting them all burnt!

Karen, by all means choose the ball game. Here's why:

At a wedding, you get all choked up, then get all drunk
	and dance your a__ off.

At a ball game, you get all drunk, then get all drunk,
then get all drunk, yell your a__ off, and then get all drunk.

Easy decision...

See youse guys at the Rat sometime before the game....

Karen, Karen, Karen....

Dickster comes at you with a direct quote from one of the
most romantic scenes, in one of the greatest classic movies
ever, with (IMHO) one of Hollywood's most dynamic leading men,
and you think he's threatening you? ;^)

Seriously, girl, get thee to a video store, and rent yourself
"Casablanca". Don't get the weenie colorized version, get it
in the original (and *powerful*) black and white version.

Sit back. Watch Peter Lorre in his pesky little voice say
"Rick, Rick, you've got to help me Rick".

Look for that classic neon sign, oft imitated today, which says
"Rick's Cafe American".

Watch the sauve and debonnaire Humphrey Bogart get mad at Sam
the piano player for playing that song, and then see he face soften
as he sees Ingrid Bergman.

And finally, as Rick says "We'll always have Paris".

Oh yes, a nice quick draw action when Rick blows away the German dude...

(Dickster, I'm impressed with your knowledge of one of Hollywood's greatest
films)

And, the way the line really was said:

Play it, Sam.

appropriate resting place with the other pelts. I believe that the
bonnet was the item which allowed me to stay past about the third
inning. (The heat really was brutal. REK, I sincerely hope that your
wife has recovered. Sorry you couldn't stay.) To those who loaned sun
block, my thanks. I did not return home a crispy critter.

I finally got to meet A&W, See-Saw, Dickster and ML. With the
exception of A&W, I was sorely disappointed. :^)

ML is a party animal, probably a Sig Ep. Jeff Needle filled in
nicely for the Ninja who was a no-show (probably at the same wedding
as Karen, although I've a good inkling where he *really* was).
I still have beachball plastic betwixt my teeth from the first one
    I ate.

Frank definitely was sweating too much in my not-so-humble opinion.
And his escort *certainly* could have done better than him. Slasher
won the best-tan contest and REK still hasn't met a dog he doesn't
    like.

Walt made it before last call (showed up in the 6th inning) and
    shared Slasher seat.

Boy, was it ever hot. If not for the fact that I organized this
debacle I would have stayed poolside. Besides, JD didn't show so
there was no one to stage a pose-down with. All that training,
    for nothing.

Yes, I was sweating. I mean I was sweating! I mean I was really
sweating!

See, before the game, Dickster and I downed some SPORTshrooms. During
the game, it was great. Say, did anyone see that big orange iguana that
ran out into CF, between Burks and Brunansky? That was impressive.

And, I had the greatest conversation with Lou Gehrig. Lou was telling
me how glad he was that George was gone, and that he thought that Joe
Morgan should stay awake a little more on the bench. Then he went down
into the Red Sox bullpen to watch from there.

After that, Jim Croce and Ronnie Van Zant showed up. Ronnie was lookin'
real good, and when I told him that Jeff Needle wanted Free Bird played
at his wedding, he told me if I came to pick him up (he didn't wanna fly)
he'd be glad to oblige. Croce was just mellowing out...

Damn it was hot. And I was SWEATING. I shoulda brought a towel....

I guess I was sweating so much I missed the baffroom olympics...

oh well,

Ditto on the great time, and great to meet y'all... Sure is funny that
nobody (I'm sure, myself included) looks like you imagine. I mean,
Frank "Going My" Way actually looked... well, normal! And Dickster,
had I known that those were the immortal SPORTSShrooms instead of
disgusting beer soaked fungi... And how come you didn't pass ME that
cigarette :-) (Acutally, I can say these things now that I've given
them up to major in beer).

I want to thank Walt, who made the effort to show up with my tix before
he was even ready to go - Walt, you went from p*ssing me off to
    thanking you real quick!

But, the brain-dead award of the day just HAS to go to Mark Lufay, who
took a phone call from Walt telling him to tell the guys waiting for
his TICKETS (me) that he'd be late (nothing registered); who then
    offered (kinda :-) to let me take his TICKETS while he waited for Walt;
who then opened the envelope at the gate to find... TWO EXTRA
TICKETS!!; who then SOLD these TICKETS to somebody else 'stead o'
runnin' back to the bar to give them to his new-ex-old-buddy, ML :-)
And that ws BEFORE we got to the park!

Actually, Mark, I didn't mind 'cuz me and my buddy got to drink four
go-o-o-d Rock's before having to swill that whale-p!ss at Fenway - plus
we got to ogle at one of the finest blonds of the day at the bar!

John Hendry, too bad you weren't there to witness my indoctrination
into the Ninja club... and I was surprised that people actually
cheered! (But, they booed Jeff later :-)....

All in all, a great time, and if somebody could reserve a seat for the
nexted one, I'd 'preciate it (as I can't afford to get in here
    regularly).

They will have a place of honor in my home.

I heard the weather on Friday night before the game and saw the next
Monday and Tuesday were going to be rainy, this was confirmed on
Saturday morning. When I realized that I would be giving up one of my
two remaining beach days to go to the game, I decided to stay on the

Chris you give the man $2.00 and sometimes he gives you back
$2,000.00! Talk about a return on your investment. And 'Saw, we
like to think of our Saturday sojourns as a type of investors club.
Only we do it in two dollar increments.

26.513BOSOX::TIMMONSI'm a Pepere!Thu Aug 16 1990 08:4612
Chris, the "sometimes" that /Don alludes to occurs far less than
once in a thou. Matter of fact, *ANY* time you receive money back
    is a rarity. :*)

Talk of racing always reminds me of a few guys I knew who were always
at the track. When they'd return to our local pub, all you'd hear
is about how much a certain race paid off and how much they collected
on it. You wouldn't hear about a loss of any kind, until they begged
a beer from someone and explained that they lost their bundle on
    a "fixed" race! :*)

/Don, that's the past. I always wondered about something, and my
Dad has a perfect phrase for it: "If you're so damn smart, how
come you ain't rich?" Like, if a guy is soooo good at making bets,
how come he works for a living? :*)

    Lee
26.516AXIS::ROBICHAUDGo Brewers! I'm getting thirsty!!Thu Aug 16 1990 14:1614
I just do it because I enjoy SPORTS Lee. Honestly Lee, back
in the mid 70's I used to know these old bucks (about your age)
8^) who worked in the woolen mill in Fitchburg before it closed
down and these guys knew a bookie who would give them four or five
races every Saturday at the Rock. You could count the times his
picks didn't come in on one hand. Anyways the stipulation was that
they never put any bets through him or any other bookie, only at
the track. Well one Saturday it was raining and two of the guys
had to work so this bonehaid books one of the picks. End of tips,
and end of easy money. They wanted to kill him! I figure this
bookie wasn't so lucky because he was a great handicapper, know
    what I mean?

    				/Don
26.517CBROWN::TIMMONSI'm a Pepere!Thu Aug 16 1990 14:3913
/Don, I was kidding around. What I meant was that over the years
I've heard more than a few guys who would tell me about how great
they were at picking horses. Fix or not, it didn't matter to me,
because those were always the guys who bummed a smoke, or needed
a ride home, or whatever. My point was that if they were so damned
good at it, why didn't they just put the house on it and then retire?

I love going to the Rock. I haven't gone in awhile, but I always
enjoyed it. And, I usually would hit at least one race, but that
wouldn't make up for the other 8. Now, if I KNEW which race I was
gonna hit, then I'd have skipped the others! :*)

Re: December. That would be a better time, especially since I'll be
bartending again for this new sports bar that's opening in a couple
weeks in Haverhill, my "hometown" (now). We could have a get

Jake,

Sorry I missed out this time around, but with rugby practice and
a couple other commitments eating up my time it was a no go.

December sounds Great. Rugby season on winter break, not much
going on in the office....

In fact Lowell sounds good too, as I have someone up there that I
always like to see.....

Let us know dude!

The two guest celebs on opening day will be Roger Clemens and
Wade Boggs.

There will be sports posters on the walls and a special section
for freakin' lunatics. The bathroom will have a Olympic sized
pool.

There's be a mushroom bar inside too....

Too funny, FrankWa! You forgot to mention about Roseanne singing the

LeE, you pass by this place at least twice a day. It's called the
Lobster Trap Restaurant & Steak House, formerly Jonah's, Chestnuts, and
Capt'n Chris's's's'. The lounge will have a sports bar atmosphere/
decor. Should be open in a couple weekends.

One of the interesting gimicks (many planned!) will be having mugs for
regular customers with their names engraved on them and a special spot
to hang them on the wall. Customer comes in, asks for his mug,
bartender fills it with beer of choice, and customer gets a discount!
Look for Normie's and Cliffie's mugs in the 1st row! :-)

Another great idea is to make the walls in the men's room out of

Jimi sits at the Right Hand of You_Know_Who, and jams regularly
with Stevie Ray. Hot licks, folks, some screaming white-hot blues
licks fill the air when those two get together. Let Janis
scream some lyrics, and I just sit back, chew some 'shrooms,

Clapton is a different style....Slow Hand says it all.

Wow, there's alot to be said for "Southern Hospitality", at least at
the "Paper Doll Lounge" in Charlotte, N.C..

Dan'l Medvid, Bob Hunt, and myself had a "get together" there Friday
night. Cover=$6 for non-members(Dan'l got in cheap, guess he lives at
this place). First sign that this place was all right was the price
for brewskis, 2 bux, MASSACHUSSETTS TAKE NOTICE PLEASE, not the 3-3.50
I've paid in Mass. TALC was great, although "G"uitar strings
prevailed. Second sign=Live Band, not some Bozo playing disco thru
beaten up old speakers that only give buzzing beat and nothing else.

Third sign= after all TALC was introduced they invited the Customers to
take the "Paper Doll" of their choice up on stage for a slow dance.
Dan'l proceeded to do just this and when she removed his shirt, my
thoughts well that's different, then comes the pants and I was
rollward, she took his belt out and put him on all 4's and used the
belt to move him along, then used the belt as a leash/collar.
I was within a second of pi$$ing myself laughing when the song ended.

4th sign=table dances, no charge, tips only.
Dan'l, those titles, make that extended titles, showed no signs of
being edited or altered at any time, wondrous, just wondrous, eh???
Can you say, "Rocks of Gibraltar????"

Was a little tough driving 7+ hours Saturday, though, but worth it.

To give more credence to the Paper Doll Lounge, every year I conduct
what I call the "Great Charlotte Male Bonding Weekend." I invite all
my guy-type-dude-friends from Pittsburgh down for a weekend of
clubbing, bowling, drinking, and Paper Dolling ("clubbing" meaning
going to the night clubs, not acting like Cro-Magnons and wacking our
women over the head with our big sticks). No quiche-eaters allowed.

The Paper Doll works these guys into the frenziest of frenzies I've
ever seen them in. We have this little contest in which we award the
best stripper the pot at the end of the night. When the first girl
walks out on stage we all look at her then glance at each other and
say, "IT'S OVER!" That is, until girl number two walks out on stage,
after which we look at her then glance at each other and say, "IT'S
OVER!" This goes on for the next 10 or so women. Then they all come
do table dances after which we all watch each individual girl do her
thing(s) and then glance at each other and say, "IT'S OVER!"

We all feel so sorry for these girls too. None of them have last
names! So we give them last names. The three previous "Luke and
Smiley Go Clubbing Awards" (my nickname is Smiley to these guys) have
    gone to:

    	- "Lacey" Luvinski
    	- The "Vicki" (she was so good she didn't need a last name; we kind
of figured she could have a name like "The Edge" from U2)
    	- "Pepper" Shaker

Previous contestants included "Angel" Horowitz, "Sabrina" Duncan, and
my personal favorite as far as names go, Orlando "Magic" Johnson.

Saturday night, all past winners were completely outdone by two new
attactions (or should that be four?), and all I've got to say is:

    IT'S OVER!!!

Hawk, try this approach:

Hey honey. Check this out. One of the guys from North Carolina
is sponsoring this religious retreat. Seems that the retreat
will feature deeply moving religious experiences, fellowship,
a seminar on tempatations of the flesh, and consciousness
expanding. And oh, honey? Seems that the retreat ends early
enough for us to take in the NBA All-Star game...Sounds pretty
	good, eh?

Now that I are in bootifull Mass. I got a few questions:

!. What time r we playing Saturday???
    2. Where are we playing??
    3. How dew I get there from Lowell?
    4. Are we going on a TALC hunt at local establishments after the
    game??
    5. Who all is planning on playing???
    6. How much does tea cost in China??
    7. If #4 is yes, is there anywhere I can get cleaned up at after the

What's the deal this saturday? Jake's been sending me mail wondering. I'm
kind of tied up with my kids but might be able to do the football game but
not the TALC and my wife is working the night before so she'll be sleeping
all day so I can't offer my house for showers. Or if we scratch the football
I might be able to do the TALC for a few hours don't know. I really have
to play the whole situation by ear and talk to mouther to see if she can
 sit for awhile for me...

who's interested and what are you interested in? perhaps as an alternative
the football game could be in maynard where "Dainty Dan" is the organizer?

Well, I'd be up for football, but not for TALC.

Complications:

		a) I have a bitch of a cold right now, and don't
feel like doing much of anything.

		b) major deadline for this friday.

		c) christmas party friday night

		d) if major deadline in b) slips, I'll be in on
Saturday to make up for it.

		e) If football moves to Maynard, I'll have to pass...

My hand's in, how bout some others....

Saturday's, and Sunday's for that matter, during this time of year are
pretty much absorbed with family matters. I've got so much to do this
weekend, like getting the tree and setting it up, finishing the work in
the dining room that I started 2 years ago so it's ready for the
holidays, split a ton of wood laying around in my back yard, get beer
:-), plus work my saturday part-time job......... I hate excuses, but
I'd rather hear it from you guys than my wife, and sneaking away this
saturday to go drinking with the boys is simply not a good idea. :-(

However, I'd be willing to go out on one of my few free nights during
the week, and as long as it's no farther than the Lowell area. Heck,
I'd like to see just what kind of solar panel JaKe has, in comparison

26.699The Great Charlotte SPORTS Male Bonding WeekendSHALOT::MEDVIDNovember spawned a monsterWed Dec 19 1990 11:2132
Well, in case SPORTS meets an untimely death in the next few weeks, I
wanted to get this offer out to ya'll.

The NBA All-Star Weekend is here in Charlotte February 8-10 (please
correct me if I'm wrong on that). There is very little chance of
getting tickets to any of the events or games unless we bribe TTom with
some hefty moola. But there are plenty of other things to do that
    constitute the term male bonding:

    	- drinking
    	- bowling
    	- drinking
    	- football
    	- drinking
    	- poker
    	- drinking
    	- watching the All-Star festivities on TV
    	- drinking

...and of course the all-important trip to the Paper Doll Lounge.

So here's the story, if you can get here there will be a roof for you
to stay under and a floor for you to sleep on...if you're lucky you
    might get a couch.

It's a pretty hefty drive from the New England area (where I assume
most of you would be coming from) and other parts of this country. So
    who's up for it?

    No Dockers allowed.

Regarding the NBA All Star get together...

I'm NOT going.

First off, you guys CLEARLY are not doing enough drinking. There
should be TWO drinkings between every other thing.

And, unless you gentlemen anticipate having bladders roughly the
size of a hot air balloon, I'd suggest you leave just a little
bit of time for bleeding some pressure off the system...

Make those modifications and I might think about putting the ol' CB

Sox are playing Cleveland Opening Day (Friday), Opening Weekend, and
Patriots Day (Monday). Weekend season ticket holders get to see
Cleveland four times this year instead of the usual two per team.
I was overjoyed when I saw that, lemme tell 'ya...

OK, 'Saw indicated he cain't take it on, and I'd like to get this
started before the file either changes hands or goes "belly up".
(Please, Lord, not that. Anything but that. Find us a way to
keep the asylum running. We *need* this group of feckless folks
    to keep us all sane.)

I'll volunteer to co-ordinate a "Hockey Night in Hartford". Tentative
game is the 10th of Feb, Whalers vs. Blackhawks. Tix are $15.
Please contact me *by mail* if you want to join me/us. I will be
asking for payment before ordering tickets, and helping to co-ordinate
car pools if that seems appropriate.

A little info: If you get 25 people, I believe there is
a group rate. I'm not sure if group packages apply to
all games, but they usually are only "turned off" for the
big games, like the Bruins, Rangers etc.

	Call 1-800-Whalers for tix info.....

Will the baffroom Olympics be underway? I'd like to

    Hawk,

Count me in for Pats day vs the Injuns... I am one of those lucky people
who _could_ see the Indians 4 games in a row, so I won't be joining you
guys in the bleacers. However, it would be a lot of fun to meet youze
guys for brews and/or breakfast the morning of the game (11 am start).

Also the Boston Marathon is that day, so it's always a fun day to hang
out and watch people run a distance most of us couldn't ride a bike....
Maybe we should figger this out and find a meeting spot for before/after
    the game.
