408.0. "FOOTBALL TEAMS WHO FLOPPED" by 3737::CONNOR () Tue Nov 06 1990 14:22

With the down fall of the New England Patriots and the
surprise of the Clevland Browns,Minnesota Vikings and
Philly Eagles I personally am surprised at how bad
some teams that are usually a contendor have gone flat
this season. Why do some teams continue to be good/great
    and others have dismal season's????

I am/was a Patriots fan but it just isn't worth the
    time or effort anymore.

408.1Eagles not soaring but not flopping either34223::HUNTFrom the young man in the 22nd row ...Tue Nov 06 1990 14:2710
The Philadelphia Eagles are now 4-4 after an 0-2 start. If the season
ended today, they'd meet the Washington Redskins in the wild-card
playoffs. Even under last season's rules, they'd be in the playoffs.

Disappointing so far but hardly a *flop* ...

Perhaps if you substitute the Los Angeles Rams for the Eagles, you
might have a more accurate list.

I didn't mean that the Eagles are bad but with the talent they
have I expected them to be in the top 5 teams off the NFL,they
have lost a few they could of won!!!!

I'd have to characterise the Bengals and the Oilers as flops right now.
The Bengals offense has joined their defense the past 3 games and the oilers
are racking up impressive numbers everyplace except for the W collumn.

I think PittsburgH will win the AFC Central in a cakewalk....

San Fran Crisco 49'ers are the biggest flop of the year!!!!

Pa-freakin-thetic!!!

If it wasn't for voodoo and drugs, they would not have won a game.

I'm thoroughly resgusted!

I see you've come around to my way of thinking on this.

Like I said, the Eagles could 8-8 just as easily as 12-4 with their
team. They would be better served by going 5-11, and getting some good
    draft picks.

Saw Major League last friday night. I was rollward all the way
through...

Anyway, I loved the part where the big dude who was into voodoo
finally got mad at his voodoo god Jaboo and says

F___ You, Jaboo, I do it myself!

Then he hit a homer.....

too funny!

In "Major League", I liked when Rick Vaughn (Charlie Sheen) came out of
the bullpen to face Hayward (played by Pete Vukovich) and they cranked
"Wild Thing" up to full ear-splitting volume.

And the bitchette-owner who wanted them to lose sat there and said ...

    	"I hate this f***ing song".

    Classic.

Won a Cy Young too, didn't he? As I recall it was one of the worst Cy

Well, if you look carefully at LT this year, there's several things
happening.

In most instances he's being double, sometimes triple teamed. He
might not be putting up the numbers, but the contribution is there
nonetheless.

And, too, he is getting older, which is something I guess we all
have to deal with sooner or later.

I'm not a fashion buff, but mens and ladies clothes tend to vary in
price, according to the Playboy Fashion Notes. For 1991 they forcast:
"Look for ladies dresses to go up, while mens pants come down."

EGADS!

Yet another SPORTS neophyte....

Okay, first, we never stay on the subject at hand because we all
have the attention spans somewhat akin to a slow first grader, or
a hyperactive first grader who needs to take his ridylin...

Also, there's a note in here that I wrote (31.something I think)
which explains why sports is like a microcosm of life. It was
an excellent treatise if I do say so myself. That explains why
we don't stay on the same subject.

Thirdly, most of the noters in here are under the influence of
SPORTShrooms, and that tends to make one wander a tad.

Lastly, ALL CAPS AS YOU MAY WELL KNOW IS SHOUTING AND THAT IS RESERVED
**ONLY** FOR THE NEW JERSEY DEVILS TOPIC. ALL THOUGH LORD KNOWS THEY
HAVEN'T HAD MUCH TO SHOUT ABOUT LATELY.....

Other than that, welcome aboard....who's your favorite guitarist? ;^)

Seriously, we do try, but it's a lot more fun not to....
