The guy who hit the pier was a very well know skier...world
class! I don't know his name though. I picked it up as a direct
feed. Maybe Grandpa could tell us more. To me, it looked as though
he deceided to watch the boat instead of concentrating on what he
was doing himself. Prior to showing the accident they showed the
two practicing without the pier and the skier made jumps of 140
ft several times...one time though, the boat flipped off the ramp
and landed on the driver. The driver was uninjured but the boat
received a large hole in the side. I would still like to know if
the skier is ok. I know he took one hell of hit! There were two
divers under the pier at the time with emergency people on shore.
The guys girlfriend was there at the time of the accident.
Isn't this what people go to see......someone getting hurt.
You go to a car race to hopefully see an accident....
Well, everyone is human! Bones break!

| I don't go to races to see accidents, any more than I go to a hockey
game to see a fight.
I used to be an EMT, and what you say is true. People have a morbid
fascinations with other people's pain and suffering. Hell, even
some of the EMTs I worked with got off on seeing blood and broken
bones.
The weirdest call I ever had was a really bad accident on CT 2. We
got there, and had to extricate this guy from a vehicle (he later died)
but was conscious and talked with us the whole time we worked on him.
But, over on the guard rail was this guy sitting with his arm
around a girl who was bawling her eyes out. We all assumed they
were relatives.
After a while our Captain asked who they were. They were just rubberneckers
who stopped to watch. Can ya believe it????

I was watching some movie last night and these two girls were
talking about a love that they both had shared. One says to the other
"the first time he had me so hot, it was as good as my second husband
and he's was from Pittsburg"....
