    I know this is one note late but this is the Washington Bullets
    Basketball note. This note is open for discussion.

253.2Bullets need a lot of help4159::NAZZAROWe're the Dead Beat ClubMon Jun 04 1990 12:1014
    Bullets were said to be serious about shaking up the entire team
    after their 31-51 season. Anyone know if there are any players
    exempt from the shake-up? Is Unseld safe?

    If I were the Bullet's GM, I would say that only Walker and Williams
    were untouchable. Make me an offer for anyone else.

    Is Tom Hammonds gonna be a player?

    Unless they make outlike bandits on a blockbuster trade, the Bullets
    are looking at the lottery again nexted season.

    John Williams is supposed to be the only untouchable, however after
    tearing up his knee he balooned to approx. 300 lbs. So anything
    is possable.

    Jeff Malone is being offered to everyone. Last word I heard was
    he was offerd to Portland for Drazen Petrovic and Sabonis (the Russian
    center).

    I don't think they should trade Harvey Grant either. He played well
    at the end of the year. The thing I don't understand is why they
    don't allow their young players to play more. Charles jones is a
    stiff!!! So why let him play 30 min/game???

    I agree with you that they need blockbuster trades to overturn the
    franchise.

How old is Malone? Why are they so down on him? I mean, I know the
guy has never been the most charitable guard in the league, but
he does know how to shoot. In fact, didn't he just have one of his
best shooting seasons ever? Maybe I'm just imagining it. The
Lakers need more scoring help at the off-guard position. What would
it take to get Malone? Not sure I'd want him, but if the price was
cheap enough...

The reason Malone is geing offered is that Eackles is ready to step forward and
play the shooting guard position. He had a fine year this year, especially
when Malone was hurt (several 30+ games). He's an exciting player, good
ball handler and passer, and excellent shooter. I think they want to get what
they can for Malone now. They obviously would be best off with a center since
they have none right now.

253.6Malone Wont Go CheapDASXPS::KHARRISWed Jun 06 1990 17:0718
    I don't think Malone will go cheap. He is one of the better shooting
    guards in the league. I agree that they want Eackles to step in
    however I don't agree that he is a good ball handler. His outsideshoy
    is often eratic however he posesses more range thasn Malone and
    he takes it to the basket very strong.

    A center is definately needed but most of the weaker teams in the
    league need a center and they're not very plentiful.

    I don't feel as if Malone would fit into the Lakers style of play.
    He likes to come off of screens and shoot as often as possible,
    not a Laker trademark.

    I would like to see the Bullets go after John Salley for a center.
    He's thin but he can block shots and play sound defense. Just a
    thought.

253.13Nash SignsDECXPS::KHARRISTue Jun 19 1990 09:265
    John Nash has been signed as the new G.M. of the Bullets. He was
    formerly the G.M. of the 76ers. I would have to say that he is going
    to back up the truck this summer.

    The Bullets finally made a trade. They sent Jeff Malone and a 2nd
    round pick to the Kings for Pervis Ellison. The Kings then sent
    Malone and their 2nd rnd. pick to Utah for Bobby Hansen, Eric Leckner
    and Utahs 1st & 2nd rnd. picks in this years draft.

    The Bullets had to try something!!!!!

253.15Wes Unseld make this trade?4159::NAZZAROBoston Shootout: June 22-24Tue Jun 26 1990 12:056
    Great deal for the Bullets!!! Ellison will be a starter for them
    for the next ten years (if he stays healthy). Eackles can replace
    Malone without much problem, and with John Williams back, the Bullets
    will have a solid shot at the playoffs nexted year.
