This is what I can come up with right now. The uniform colors are
taken right off the official NBA schedule I got with HOOP Magazine. I don't
know if they are all home or away uniforms...

The Nuggets color's are blue and gold I believe, with a smattering
of the rainbow, I believe. FWIW, I think that the Nuggets have the
    best uniforms in the league.

Oh yes, they play at McNicholls Arena.

Might be Blue Gold and White now ....

Yes, but the Summit is one of the higher places in Houston :-)
It is also one of the best places to watch a game in the country.
Beautiful arena, pretty convienent for all (it's actually in HOUSTON
!!!), and FREE underground parking !

The Charlotte Hornets do *NOT* wear Carolina Blue. Gag me with a

The Hornets wear these really gnarly Teal and Purple pinstriped

Actually, Knickerbocker arena is in Albany, The Knicks play in the
city so it would be kind of a weird situation if they weer called

Knickerbockers comes from teh Dutch influence in NY. Also, Im
sure you all remember Ruperts KNICKERBOCKER beer! You cain still
find it in certain classy establishments, like Berts Burp and Puke
    in Hoboken ;-)

Didnt Rupert own the Knnicks at one time? OF COURSE, Knickerbockers
comes from Knickers, or loose pants gathered just below the knee
    - the term Knickerbockers was used to describe the dutch, who had
a penchant for wearing such garb.

I remember when I was a kid, my dad drank Knickerbocker among
other things. He and his buddies would call it Ruppert's though, never
Knickerbocker.

Jake Ruppert I believe, owned the Yankees for quite a while, although
I'm sure there are Yanks fans in here who are more qualified to speak
on that than I am....

The Hawks sometimes have pink in their uniforms. Well, atleast Moses
did last year when he played in Charlotte. The red in his jersey had
faded into the white leaving him with a very noticable red and pink
    uniform.

Of course it's all a matter of opinion, but until I saw Orlando's road
uniforms this year, I thought Denver's were the absolute ugliest costume
I've seen in ANY sport...except for the Cleveland Browns.

My vote goes to the T-wolves with the Hornets running a close second
for nicest duds in the NBA.

I'd put it in that order also for best emblem.

I remember a time when I was about 12, and my dad and his friend were
working on my dad's car. They had a cooler of Black Labels, and my
dad let me have one. He told me not to chug it.

Well, I soon caught onto the fact that the two guys were realy busy,
so when I finished my first one, I took another, placing the empty
back in the cooler. Every time my dad looked at me I had one
in my hand. He'd say "YOu still drinking that son?" I'd say "Sure
Dad, you said not to chug it".

after a while, he'd say "Ain't that kinda warm?", and I'd say "I like
it that way, Dad". By the time he and his buddy found out what I'd
been pulling (i.e when one of them grabbed an empty outta the cooler)
my dad was pissed, but when he found me I was sound asleep in a corner
of the garage, and he couldn't help but laugh....

So much for my first drunk...

and I went, appropriately enough, to a Broons game. My older bro'
did the buyin and drivin', and a friend and I sat in the back of
the family station wagon and split a *whole six pack* of Colt 45.

We took the subway and were sitting there laughing our asses off
over absolutely nothing and people were looking at us real funny,
which got us started even more. Things got pretty dizzy by the

You're talking out yer anus. I was there. Believe me, it didn't go
like that 8^)

Seriously, they decided that they would chose the Whalers since when
they inevitabley "floundered" like they always do, the fans would
call them the Flounders. And when they really had a dog team
we'd call them the Hounders....

I think the dorkiest thing they ever did was to name the stupid
Whale. You remember that dumb looking blue whale (or was it green?)
that they had painted on the ice? Well, some yuppie babe came up
with the name "Puckie". Hell, all my buddies and I called it
Puke-y!

Anyway, that's the story....believe it, or don't....

Many thanks for all your inputs - I never realised this would generate
    so much interest!

My boys are very happy with the info. They can now amaze their friends
    at school with this knowledge.

I should have said I am a Brit and we here in the UK get little or no
coverage of the NBA games (not even the playoffs) and we did enjoy
watching some of the games while we were over on holiday in Canada at
my parents' house. I'm trying to get them to write to the TV Stations
here - pleading for coverage of at least the playoffs.

NBA basketball is about 20 light years better than the British/European
Basketball games (presentation-wise, skill-wise and I guess especially
    salary-wise)

Chug means belt it down in 3.5 seconds or less. I hear some of
    the pros are even faster.

Hawk, do you have any stats/records to help in this matter?

(What does "chug" in respect of the beer drinking mean?)

For the Mountain Man types it means taking a 12-16oz beer and draining the
glass without tasting the beer.

This procedure is followed usually by a very loud belch.

Steve --

Chugging is sort of an art form. Basically you take (as has been
previously mentioned) a 12oz or 16oz beer, uncap it, and pound
it down as fast as humanly possibly.

I had one friend who could chug a quart of beer (32oz) but he
had this nasty habit of getting violently sick about half an hour
later.

Now, chugging, while an art form, is not, in my mind, quite a civilized
thing to do. Beer is something you have to enjoy, and therefore, to
pound it down really quickly doesn't allow maximum enjoyment. Thus,
if I'm doing any chugging, I don't do it with a really good beer
and NEVER, NEVER with a homebrew...

And re hoops on British TV.... I'll make you a deal. If you can send
more soccer coverage over (esp Liverpool) then I'll see what I can
do about the NBA exporting some games!

Hawk --

It's called Dogbolter Ale, and it started out as a kit, but if you
make it the way the directions say, you'll end up with sh_t, not
beer.

There's this excellent book by Charlie Papazian(sp?) call the Joy
of Homebrewing which I'd highly recommend.

If you're really interested in this fascinating and highly rewarding hobby
(plus economical -- two cases of PREMIUM beer for maybe $13 on avg)
check out DSSDEV::HOMEBREW.

I'm just a novice, working on my first batch, but fortunately we
have a Homebrew-meister here where I work....

I think the world's record for chugging is less that 3.5, but I'm not
sure....8^)

Papazian is the bible of homebrew. I love my homebrew. Cheap and good, not to
mention the higher alcohol content :^).
