I haven't seen any unusually strange-looking characters around lately.
And it's still too early for tourists. How can you identify these critters?
Do Georgians travel by haywagon or by stockcar? 8^D

Awright, awright, enough already. 8^)

When I was at Tech (late 60's), there were approximately 8,000 students. Only
100-200 were female. So, when the cheer originated, there were lots and lots
of horny Tech students. It was meant only as a signal to true Tech fans
(i.e., if you ain't been to Tech, it don't mean nothing to ya). By the way,
is this what you guys do for a living, read the sports notes file? I know
it's in Riggen's job description. Come on, Jeff, get your two cents in quick.

Here's another one for you:

Tangent, secant, cosine, sine,

Convergent series, Poisson's Brackets,
Dis-integrate them, Yellow Jackets.

There as much a part of Americana as Motherhood, Apple Pie, Baseball,

My dad used to race modifieds a long time ago, and to me, there's
nothin' like a Friday night at the track, with a few beers, some

> What approach is that, Bob Hunt?

> from its rightful victors, the Michigan State Spartans?

Leave it to MrT to suggest that a bad call by the refs was the result
of a pay-off. Give us a break, will ya? And you wonder why your
credibility is lower than a snakes belly around these parts ...

Credit Jud & Smith from Michigan State with having the class to not blame
the refs for the loss. Credit MrT with ridiculous accusations and
classless sour grapes.

> Final Four trivia:

> - Has any other totally undeserving team ever appeared in the Final Four?

Tech played some great ball to get to the Final 4. They were as deserving
as anybody. If you want to look for injustices, try on the fact that they
were seeded fourth in (arguably) the toughest region and forced to play in
the backyard of their first opponent, despite being ranked in the Top 10,
winning the ACC Tournament, and being undefeated outside the ACC. All in
all, I'd say they were a pretty deserving finalist. The fact that Michigan
State didn't get the call at the end of the game was a tough break, but don't
lose sight of the fact that a) The Big 10's best and #1 seed couldn't put
away the ACC's 2nd or 3rd best and #4 seed (hah!) in regulation; b) M-State
coulda taken matters into their own hands by having their best player make a
free throw; and c) M-State still could've won the game in overtime.

> - Will the NCAA, in a sudden jag of concern ver its credibility, force
> the Yellowhackers to sew a_asterisk to each uniform?

No, nor should they. The Jackets should be proud of their season and the
only people clammering for an asterisk are the classless Big10 Bigots.

> Hmmm, probably "no" to either. But, come to think of it it's high

    Hey ACC_Chris....

Mr. T is just sore cuz there was a bad call against the only BigTen
team that had a shot at winning the tourny that Mr. T himself claims he
could care less about. Of course, he wasn't whining last year when
Michigan got that lame foul call on Rumeal that gave them the
    Champeenship.

    Translation...Mr. T is a first class hypocrite.

MSU did take the matters into their own hands by putting just enough
pressure on Tech so they couldn't get off a shot before the buzzer, yet
not committing a foul. It worked perfectly except for the fact that
Anderson was permitted to shoot very obviously after the buzzer. Then
one clown tried to give them the game right there by calling it a
3-pointer. That too, was not a close call. He was obviously over the
line. Right then I gave MSU no chance in OT. If they were going to rob
MSU that badly in regulation, there is no way they were going to be
    allowed to win in OT.

Free throws are not a given. That's why they shoot them instead of just
chalking up a point. The fact remains that MSU stopped Tech from
scoring and won the game only to get screwed.

Sounds to me like a nice way of saying their star chocked at the free
    throw line.

    > It worked perfectly except for the fact that ...

Yup, worked to perfection. That's why Michigan State got to go home
after the game and Tech went on to the Final 4.

    > Right then I gave MSU no chance in OT. If they were going to rob

What a load this line is. No way "they" were going to let [let them
win]. Gimme a break Hoot, you can't believe this. The only possible
defense you can give is that the refs made blattant pro-Tech calls in
    the OT, which they didn't.

    > Free throws are not a given. That's why they shoot them instead of just

No, that's a fack. The FACT is that Tech won the game and went to the
Final 4, while the Big 10 champs didn't even make the Final 8.

    re: Hoot

Hoot, are you going to tell me that you were watching Anderson's
feet when he took that shot? If you say yes, then you were the
only 3 (2 of the 3 officials) who were watching that. And if you
were watching his feet, how do you know the shot was late? You
know, that is one of the reasons they have 3 officials...so they
can help each other and cover the court properly!

What few people realize is that the trail(ref) is responsible for
calling a shot good at the end of the game. The lead and the other
off official will help if it is close. Usually they will focus
on the 3 pt line and give the trail as much help as the needs.
The call was made correctly whether you want to believe it or not.

The trail was told by the other two officials that the shot
was only a 2 pointer and that was an amazing call given that it
took slow motion and a couple of camera angles to show that anderson's
foot was indeed touching the line.

State's problem was that they missed the 1 and 1 that would
of put the game away, plus they let Anderson dribble 60 feet without
making him give up the ball. Don't blame the ref's for a call that
MSU could of avoided by hitting their foul shots and preventing
a guy from getting a shot off with time running out.
