    Steve,

See my personal name? That refers to the amount of snow that
has fallen on some of the local ski areas in the last few weeks.

I heard that even the city is due to get some snow this week.

Also heard that Snoqualamie Pass has been closed for a while.

Then I heard that you and Beth were planning on getting snowed
in. Then your p-name might just refer to something else ;^)

DSSDEV::SKIING has a regular and loyal following. You can probably get
up to the minute info in there, Steve. Anyone else interested can hit
KP7 to add it to their notebook.

    Steve,

The Cascade moutain areas, Mount Baker and other areas. There really
aren't any ski 'resorts' out this way, just great skiing - they
are thinking of building the first ski resort in Washington within
    the nexted few years, however.

There's a "small" resort at Crystal Mountain. I know they have some
lodging etc, but I don't have many details. I'll see if I can find
the info that I have...

Killington....alot of people like the place...its probibly good
for the person who wants to ski the same place 3 or 4 days in a
row, but, for a one day trip...no thanks...the lift lines are long
and the trails are not well groomed...I thought. I skied there
one time and really thought it was too windy...maybe it was the
    day.

    	Okemo....was great...everytime I went...the trails are not ones
that go straight down...I like windie trails with nice jumps...not
bumps. They have great expert runs and several of them. The
Challe's were much nicer too. Nice cold beer!

Well, RR, Outer Limits......bumps from top to bottom.

All I've ever seen on that slope is people wipping out,
people getting hit by other people wipping out, people stopped
everywhere. You can't go down the slope without running into
    someone.
I'll admit it...I'm not good enough to try that trail. I'd
be a bunch of broken bones by the time I hit the bottom.

I forget the number of the state route that runs up (and down) Jay,
but shortly after I got my Ninja I had one hellacious ride on the
road. Opened it up, and hung on while the crotchrocket did its thing.

Never skied Jay, but there's some neat riding roads up there...

Beauty, eh? ;^)

Interstate 91 brings you to a town called Derby. (Canadian Border)
Jay Peak is approx. 10-15 miles west of Derby on Rt. 242.

The scenic trip which has some of the best winding roads would be
Rt. 100. This will eventually bring you to Rt. 242.

Jay Peak is the only ski area in VT with a Tramway. They have very
short lift lines. (Triple and Quad lifts)

I can get more details if you'd like.

I know Derby well. I have a friend (who is friends with Dr J btw)
who has a cabin on Salem Lake.

That day I went up, I went up US 7 from CT, picked up an interstate
somewhere around the middle of Lake Champlain, then worked my way
up some state routes to to "top" of the state. The I cut
east across VT, going over the top of Jay, until I came into
Derby.

Long days ride, but really fun!

Dan, do you remember the old Schaeffer commercial, with the four guys
in the ski lodge. One of them was worried about being snowed in,
cause it was Sunday night and they wouldn't be able to get to work
on Monday...Schaeffer City....

I think there'd be no survivors at a get together like that....

Ok, if this place is so good.....Why?

    	How many expert trails?
    	How many runs all together?
    	What's the Chaley like?
    	How about accomodations?

A trip up there would surely require a room for the night.
I'm willing to try anything...If its good. I mean really good.

    Current conditions Northern Vermont...2/15/90- 2/16/90 Around 10
inches fell in the Burlington area. This may translates into 2 to 4
inches more in the mountains however the snow has turned to freezing
rain and is predicted to turn to all rain by noon today, back to
snow tonight and a little more Saturday. All and all it looks
like some pretty good conditions up here. I think!!!

Colorado is for wimps. 5-10:, 15-20" hah, a piddling I say.

Yeh I have heard Utah has great skiing. Never been there even though
I would like to try it. As to Washington, How long are the runs,
and how many "babes" are there on those slopes??

Now my understanding is Colorado has the better choice of areas, not
only how many areas, but the degree of difficult.

      My favorites are:

Breckenridge, Copper Mtn, Vail, Monarch, A-basin. I have yet to try
Steamboat, Crested Butte, and 3 of the 4 at Aspen. I've heard that
Steamboat has some of the best tree runs in the US.

Q, Q, Q, Q, Q (shoot, I'm starting to sound like Capt Picard!)

Anyway, I've x-country skiied for a long time. That's easy enough
to learn. Downhill, not as long, nor as good....

But, in Connecticut, if you want to ski, you get in the car, head
north on 91 till you find something that suits your fancy....
