3703.0. "DLT2000 firmware upgrade" by NETRIX::"Bevis@mail.dec.com" (Steve Bevis) Mon Mar 24 1997 18:51

Hi,
Anyone out there help me on this one.
I have a customer who has installed a DLT2000 onto a VMS 5.5-2
system. When he tries running backup he gets "tape position lost"
immediately after writing the last file in the save set.
This drive was working OK on the previous UNIX system that it was
installed on.

There are numerous entries about DLT2000's in these notes, but
none seem to get to the core of the issues. Does anyone know the
definitive answer on the following:-

1. Are DLT2000's supported on VMS
2. What is the latest firmware release.
3. Where do we get the firmware from. If the answer is Quantum,
   does anyone thru which channels.

thanks in anticipation,
Steve Bevis

Steve, Why not call your local friendly support centre??

1. Are DLT2000's supported on VMS

<<< No. DLT2000 is a special version of the DLT tape (TZ87) with OEM
<<< microcode. Each code version being defined by whatever version of
<<< the DLT2000 you have. There is a version for SUN, IBM, HP, TTI, etc..

2. What is the latest firmware release.

    <<< See answer to 3

3. Where do we get the firmware from. If the answer is Quantum,
does anyone know through which channels.

<<< You've got it. Quantum. Quantum addresses are on the net. The other
<<< source is the reseller who sold the drive in the first place as
<<< Digital do not and have not sold DLT2000 drives.

thanks in anticipation,

    <<< Anytime

    Regards
    	Keith
