    It would be a mess.  The best thing to do is to recompile.  Since most
    sites heavily customize their '/usr/local/...' structure, a setld kit
    to put perl there wouldn't make much sense either.

I've installed  the  perl  kit  on  my  workstation.  All I needed to do was
generate a symbolic link from /usr/local/bin/perl to /usr/bin/perl and I was
all  set.   However I can't get the man pages to work.  The only solution is
to  include /usr/opt/PRL503/man/ and /usr/opt/PRL503/lib/man/ in my MANPATH.
Is  this  right?.   .0  implies  that everything should be "fixed up" by the
install.
