832.0. "Belgrade Lakes vacation" by TNPUBS::MCKINNON () Thu Mar 06 1997 11:29

    Anyone familiar w/Belgrade Lakes (Great Pond)? My husband and
    I are thinking of spending a week there (end of July). Are
    there any villages or towns nearby? Restaurants? Shops? Is
    the Lake clean?  Quiet?

    Thanks for any information,

    Anne

  Belgrade is about 15 miles from Waterville, which is a good size city by
Maine standards. (I used to have an uncle there. That's how I know.) So
there should be no problem finding stores, eateries, etc.

Belgrade Lakes - Try the Villiage Inn, right in the village (Rt 27).
There is the WeatherVane on Rt 17 in Readfield (< 20 minutes). Waterville has
Steve's, the Silver Street Tavern and John Martin's Manor. There is also a
Governor's at the second Waterville Exit off I95. There is Augusta with a
Red Lobster, Ground Round, and the Comfort Inn has a nice restaurant. If you
are
okay with doing some traveling, Farmington is right up the road or
Lewiston/Auburn is a reasonable trip.
