    I have an 11-month old weimaraner/lab mix - and we just found a book
    last night called "The Boston Dog Lover's Companion". It lists
    parks/beaches/restaurants(outdoor seating)/and lodging where dogs are
    allowed and gives a brief description of each, including whether they
    must be leashed or can run free. It covers most of the state,
    including the Cape. I'd be happy to look up a certain area if anybody
    wants info.

    	Where can I get my own copy? My parents love taking their dog
    with them for Sunday drives and this will help when they want to
    take a rest from driving. Sue

    Sue -

    I found this book at The Paper Store in Hudson, MA. It's $18.00 - they
    had two or three copies left - in the travel section.

    	The Book Corner(store) I live near will order books for you if
    you have the name and author(?) or publisher. I have the title
    but not the other info, can you please post it.

    				Thanks  Sue
2093.9OBSESS::BOLTONAkita Friends of New EnglandFri Apr 25 1997 18:217
    Sorry, my copy is out in my car... so I can't post the author or
    publisher.

    Almost any book store can order any book for you if it's in print.
    They may even be able to search for this book based just on the title.

    Carol.
2093.10I'll post more info tonightDAGWUD::JACQUARTFri Apr 25 1997 19:0313
    I know that The Paper Store will order books for you as well, I've done
    it before. I'm pretty sure they can do it just by the title, but I'll
    check my book when I get home and post more details
    (author/publisher...). I know the copyright date is 1996 because I
    checked to make sure the information would be current.

    I also remember the preface mentioning a similar book for California,
    and I think there may have been a number to call to see if there was
    one published for other areas. I'll check that and post that info as
    well.

2093.11Details for bookDAGWUD::JACQUARTMon Apr 28 1997 13:4623

    An excerpt from the introduction follows for those who wondered about
    similar books for different areas:

    	"There may be times when you and your dog actually find yourselves
    leaving New England to visit other parts of the United States. Due to
    the success of The California Dog Lover's Companion, Foghorn Press is
    launching a Dog Lover's series of books for different parts of the
    country, including Atlanta, Chicago, Florida, Seattle, Texas, and

    Like .7, I'm also interested to know whether the Boston edition covers
    New Hampshire at all?   Thanks,

    Sue
2093.13NH/VT InfoDAGWUD::JACQUARTMon Apr 28 1997 20:2421
    The Boston edition doesn't cover out of state except for a short entry
    on the following:

    	Derry, New Hampshire - pointer to a wildlife artist to paint
    		or draw your pet ... Linda Begin, 79 Walnut Hill Rd.,
    		Derry, NH 03038, 603-421-1935

    	Manchester, New Hampshire - All Dog's Gym, 801 Perimeter Road,
    		Manchester, NH 02103, 603-669-4644

    	Randolph, New Hampshire - contact for info on hiking the
    		Presidential Range in White Mtn National Forest...
    		Randolph Mountain Club, Randolph, NH 03570,
    		603-466-2022

    	Rutland, Vermont - Camp Gone to the Dogs, RR1, Box 958, Putney,
    		Vermont 05346, 802-387-5673

    Hardly enough info to make it worth the $17.95 purchase price.

    I found a site on the internet called: http://www.traveldog.com/ that
    lists hotels in New England (as well as other states) that allow dogs.

    You might want to try looking at that.
