| It's been almost a year since we lost Shep (border collie) and during
that time we've investigated getting a Newfoundland. While we still want a
Newf, we thought a 'smaller' dog would be a good starting point. We've kept
our eyes and ears open for an dog 2-3 years old that needs a new home,
preferably a pure bred.
We missed out on a few labs, but earlier this week we were connected with a
family that is moving and cannot take their dog with them. The dog is a 5
year old female Malamute. We're going to see the dog (and her family) this
weekend, but doing a quite search on Alaskan Malamutes on the web, I found
this breed very similar to the Newf, although a bit smaller.
Hopefully on Monday I'll have good news to report about the dog. Unfortunately,
even if it does work out, we probably won't take her home for another month.
We have a vacation coming up and I doubt our house sitter would be too happy
with this new addition....

Hi Dave,
My Mal Kasey is 6 they are the most wonderful breed. (altho my golden
mix is pretty wonderful too!) Anyway, you can call me if you want &
I can try to answer any questions you have. Did you join the Malamute
mailing list on the web?? Tons of info there.
Good Luck!

| Diane - thanks for the answer. I haven't joined the list yet, but will if
all goes well this weekend. We've read conflicting information on the
temperments of Mals, some being very laid back and others being agressive.
Hopefully well find Kiesha to be friendly and lovable!
