6347.0. "TLZ09 and VMS VAX 5.5-2 software required?" by ADOV01::JARMAN () Mon Jan 27 1997 20:48

I have a customer running a VAXstation with VMS 5.5-2 who wants to buy
    an external DAT.

The SOC lists TLZ09-D* as suitable, but lists under Operating system
    support the following:

    - OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2, V5.5-2H4, V6.0, V6.1 (requires MK driver
    enhancement kit (QA-MT1AA-Up.6.1)
    - OpenVMS Alpha V6.2

I assume that this means that for any of these older revs you need the
    MK enhancement kit -

My question is - how does the customer order it? - it is not listed in
our price book, nor is it shown as included in the TLZ09-D* part number
if you look it up in VTX CEO

    thanks in advance

The QA-MT1AA-xx part number is incorrect -- I think that kit is
for OpenVMS Alpha, and that it's probably even misworded. (I'd
contact the TLZ folks directly -- Jeff James at DTN 237-2023, or
  John Celi, DTN 237-3126.)

    1 QA-MT1AA-H8 OVMS Alpha Bin+Onlin DOC CDRM 314.00
    2 QA-MT1AA-T8 OpenVMS Alpha V1.5 MUP 225.00

I would, however, acquire a copy of the _OpenVMS VAXSCSI03_061 VAX
V5.5-2-V6.1 SCSI Drivers ECO Summary_ kit from the Internet patch
area, or from COMET/STARS, or from the customer support center.
  _OpenVMS VAXBACK05_U2055 VAX V5.5-2 - V5.5-2HF BACKUP ECO Summary_
is another patch that might be applicable useful. If you're going
to use the TLZ09 for standalone BACKUP, you'll also need an update
  to STABACKIT.COM -- version 44 or later.

This release of OpenVMS will not likely correctly identify this drive.

(I'd really suggest the customer upgrade: V7.1 is current -- V5.5-2
is well over four years old... It'll be in Kindergarden next year. :-)

If its for a VAXstation, the OpenVMS VAX 5.5-2h4 media kit is still
available, part # QA-001AA-UW. I dont know if the TLZ09 will work at
this version level, but I believe its the last v5 media kit.
