| Did you get an answer to this? I think I just solved it today on my 450st.
An AltaVista search on the Intranet with: "setup disk" +450st
found the path http://www.uvo.dec.com/public/public/sco/sco_media/SCU
This has a UNIX ``dd image'' of the set up disk: 450ST.2.0.0.dd.Z
Using DD or the DOS rawrite program from FreeBSD/Linux or the like, you
can create a this floppy which is the EISA Configuration Utility (aka ECU).
With it, indeed you can set the spin-up bit in the 1740 and like with the RZ56
seems good.
