    What's the deal with Carlisle?  Is it a big deal?  Everyone talks about
    it like it's come big deal mecca for stuff.  So much so, that I am
    considering travelling there to do some bizness.
    
    What's the deal on this place?  Is it worth it?  What is your
    experience, good/bad and suggestions about what to do, who to
    contact, when it happens....

    I went to their fall show a couple of years ago and was somewhat
    disappointed - primarily because I was looking for VW stuff and they
    had little of it. (Apparently their spring import show would have been
    more apropriate for my interests).
    
    It's really just a giant car show and swap meet. What I mean by that
    is;
    
    you see the very same stuff that you see at any other worthwhile swap
    meet,i.e. all the normal stuff like Mustang, Camaro, Vette,Model A, etc 
    reproduction stuff as well as NOS, just ONE HECK OF A LOT MORE OF IT.
    
    So it's really no different from any other big swap meet except that it
    is REALLY BIG.
    
    It takes a minimum of 2 days to properly check all of the parts booths
    to see if they have what you want and a third day to check out the cars
    for sale and then double check those parts vendors you noticed earlier
    and want to revisit.
    
    The rows upon which the parts vendors are situated are paved so if it
    rains you aren't up to your keester in mud, but walking on pavement for
    several 8 hour days will sure give you sore feet and back.
    
    It's well run and I think every true antique/rod/machine enthuesiast
    should make the pilgramage once in their life (And I drove from Ottawa,
    Ont.) but take lots of money.
