The Nashua speedtraps have started a week earlier than usual this year.  They
were out in force yesterday and today stopping everything that was moving.  
I made a few detours into the neighborhoods so I didn't have to pass through
any of them.  It's time to take a break from shopping in Nashua and go 
elsewhere until the middle of May.

Because they are so ridiculously low, not that I
have an opinion on the reasonablenss of the 
current speed limits :-).

Try going the spped limits that are now in place
on anywhere from the expressways to inner city steets
and see if your sense of "resonable" remains intact.

    Of course the speed limits are not reasonable. They're set to generate
    revenue for the town, the state and the insurance industry.
    This shouldn't be a surprise to anybody...

My understanding is that in NH the towns get nothing
from the tickets written by them, it all goes to the
state.

    And then back to the towns as "revenue sharing".
    
    	

I believe in the case of Nashua, it's a few very vocal residents who constantly
complain about speeding cars in their neighborhoods.  The city is considering
lowering the speed limit on almost all roads in town to 25 mph.  That won't 
solve the problem, it will just end up killing a very vibrant downtown.

    There have been several speedtraps set up on Rt. 2 E and W in MA
    recently.  The most common ones by the I-190 interchange are still set
    up frequently.  Westbound, just as you pass the I-190 exit ardound the
    curve and Eastbound just as you go under the overpass for I-190.  They
    have also been set up near the water treatment facility immediately
    after the Mt. Elam Rd. exit Eastbound.  The road drops from 55 to 45 in
    here as well.  This AM they were on the Westbound near the fenced off
    rest area west of 110/111.  I have also seen them in various spots
    around curves eastbound, west of 495.  It seems enforcement is picking 
    up on Rt. 2.  

    More speedtraps recently on Rt. 2 in MA.  The previous one reported in
    -.1 just West of 495 was manned by a trooper using laser this AM.  No
    report from my detector and the device he had he was aiming through a
    sight on top of the unit.  The crusier is tucked in behind the guard
    rail and he pops out as a car comes down the hill.  
    
    Yesterday on Rt. 2 East just east of the Mechanic street exit near
    I-190.  Three cruisers were parked on the downhill before the Rt. 70
    exit beyond the rest area turnout.  No signal detected on my radar
    detector then either so they also may have been using laser.
