4029.0. "Two AppleTalk ports" by EVTAI1::DEGAT (From the froggie's TSC) Wed May 28 1997 10:02

    Hi,

nobody asked me before today about this. Is it possible to start
a file server on a zone which is declared on a secondary port ?

    An example.

A VAX with 2 ethernet controlers. One is the primary port with a zone
"Primary zone" the other port is a secondary port (of course you have
no other choice) and the zone name is "Secondary zone"

I've no problem to start the file server on zone "Primary zone" but if
i try to start it on "Secondary zone" i've a message which tells me
that it's not a local zone although it's defined locally on the second
    port.

    thanks for any comments

4029.1Can only use zones on primary portAOSG::HITTIt's a fine line between clever and stupidWed May 28 1997 14:598
You can only declare service names on the primary port, and as
a result, you are limited to zones on the primary port.

The primary port is the port to the network on which the OpenVMS
system resides. The secondary ports are only there for routing
purposes.
