    IT's PINK! Very PINK. IT's, IT's, GROSS!!!!!!!!!

Agreed. The new colors are absolutely PUTRID!

I hear that pink flamingos will decorate the South lobby entrance,
security guards will wear hot pink sunglasses, and that all employees
will be issued hot pink T-shirts as the new corporate uniform. New
badges with a hot pink background will replace your worn & weary id's.

I have to agree. This is VERY poor taste. I can't believe that a design
service would even submit a design like this for a "professional
image". It must have been submitted my grade schoolers. It is a real
joke. For that matter, I can't believe Digital approved this! I'm sure
it will make a big impression on future tenants who are looking to
lease office space to have a lobby like this.

OK, I'll add my vote for the "Most tacky lobby in the world."

I think I'll ask any vendors that need to visit to enter through the
east lobby from now on. Please don't tell me that the east lobby will
    undergo the same changes!

According to the guard in the South Lobby, the colors were picked out
    by "a senior manager who sits in CX03, who's in charge of facilities";
he didn't know the manager's name. Any idea who this could be?

Ken Pierce is the project manager, or something like that. Hugh Nethercot
is our beloved facilities manager Their boss is Don Slawinski, Regional
Facilities Czar. He's the nice guy who "fields" facilities questions at
the Storage Quarterlies.

That explains it; he doesn't have to look at them every day...

Anyone else think they should take the leftover paint and do his office in the
same motif?

In prisons they have found that the color pink helps to
    calm those that are incarcerated.
Perhaps they do have a good reason.....

I'd read that the calming effect of pink is temporary -- and that
there's a violent rebound reaction to the pink after a short time.

The nursery status is in the lease investigation stage. It will be some time
before we have a lease in effect, if at all.

As of now, with all the work that must be accomplished along with construction
and occupancy, it will be 8 to 9 months to get the nursery into operation.

We will keep everyone apprised of developing factors effecting the nursery
capability on campus.

2413.14HERE WE GO AGAIN...SSDEVO::SPRAYCARThu May 08 1997 14:248
It's nice to see that, in these austere times, we're painting over the
ugly pink stripes. Rumor has it that someone realized that the new pink
and maroon clashed with the official Digital Maroon Color... So we re-spend
big bucks re-painting it. Re-ally smart.

When the bonus numbers come out in June/July, you can chalk some of the
reduction up to painting... ;-(

I would like to thank facilities for fixing the blunder, and making
the south lobby look quite nice now.

I don't think it cost big bucks to fix this problem, caused by a very
little bit of pink paint. The wi$dom behind doing all this work in the
fir$t place may be debatible, though I doubt even that was big buck$
compared to the rent we stand to gain from retaining current, and
acquiring future tenants, not to mention customer impact. Also, many more
dollars have been spent on 'customer' and vp spiff ups for cxo3, even
recently, than have ever been spent on cxo1. Its time we got a little.

Re: <<< Note 2413.20 by COOKIE::MARTIN "Life is tradeoffs" >>>

>> Now if we can just get the lines painted back on the roads...

Oh yhea, there *were* lines at one time, weren't there?

In the last month I've almost gotten wacked three times on our driveway, most
recently at lunch today when I was heading out the East exit. Allow me to blow
off steam...

I was in the left lane, proceeding to the perpendicular intersection of the
driveway and Rockrimmon. Beside me was a big white tuna boat in the right lane,
the lane that peels off into the merge-lane-that-isn't.

Right where the road splits, they *yank* their car into the left lane (I'm
talking major car-leaning swerve here), forcing me into a panic move into the
oncoming lane of traffic. It would have been a collision if I hadn't moved.
Fortunately no one was coming into work.

Now that this car and driver has my full attention, I notice that they're three
people and a driver, the three people pointing in all different directions with
such fervor that they appear to be almost flailing.

After turning wide into the left lane on Rockrimmon, the car moves into the
right lane causing the car exiting DEC on the merge-lane-that-isn't to abort
their acceleration. Now that they've given an adrenalin rush to driver #2, they
move into the left lane about even with the Texaco station, then jerk the car
quite late into the left turn lane that goes to Delmonico, then yank it back
into the left through lane (just about scoring another car), they proceed
through the Delmonico light, stop at Mark Dabling (at the red light, I guess the
driver was somewhat cognizant of her surroundings), then, as the light turns
green, the car turns left onto Mark Dabling, cutting off yet another car. At
this point I was turning right onto Mark Dabling, breathing a sigh of relief to
get away with this moving disaster. I could still see hands gesturing in all
directions and the driver looking in all directions except ahead...

Thanks. I feel better. Back to the lines...

I've gotten used to bozo maneuvers at the peel-off to the eastern parking lots
(people swerving into the through lane at the last minute since they're no lines
to guide them). So I'm pretty defensive around there. This one at lunch at the
exit was a new one though.

I guess we need an accident and then they'll repaint the lines.
