For non-shooters. My sister-in-law is dead set against using guns
or knowing anything about them in any way. One day her son got up
in the closet and got my brother's pistol. She took it away from
him---and it went off, ricocheted off the bed rail, and came within
an inch of her son. Moral of story: Even if you don't use guns,
you should know how to safely handle one.

Something I point out to parents is that if you don't have any guns in your
house you've limited your kids access to guns -- in your house only.

Just like teaching swimming or at minimum self-rescue in case your kid falls in
a pool, kids should know what to do (or more importantly what NOT to do) if they
should come upon a gun.

You cannot childproof all guns. But you can gunproof your child (this is
something that is touched on in the class, and Paul makes sure that parents are
given/pointed to a whole plethora of information so they can make an informed
decision as to how to safely store firearms and how to go about gunproofing
their children).

Moral of the story: If your husband/wife keeps a loaded gun in a closet
where a kid can get to it, move out.

Funny what happens if you only change one word in that statemente:
Moral of the story: If your husband/wife keeps a loaded liberal in a closet
where a kid can get to it, move out. 8*).
