275.0. "NH Thunder Loons - USBL" by TNPUBS::NAZZARO (Best of luck, Marcus!) Fri May 24 1996 17:40

Well, the NH Thunder Loons got edged out lasted night by the Portland
Mountain Cats (coached by the once great and now recovering coke-head
Kevin Mackey) 151-114. Previously hot Matt Alosa got shut out.

But the BIG news is that Sunday night, Roy Jones Jr., the undisputed
super middleweight champion of the world, comes to NH College. He is
the point guard for the Jacksonville Barracudas. THis is your only
chance to see him, as Jacksonville only comes to Manchester once this
year. Here is the remaining home schedule for the Thunder Loons:

Sun. May 26	Jacksonville Barracudas 7:05
Fri. May 31 Long Island Surf 7:05
Mon. June 3	Portland Mountain Cats 7:05
Wed. June 5	Caolina Cardinals 7:05
Fri. June 7	Connecticut Skyhawks 7:05
Sun. June 9	Atlantic City Seagulls 7:05
Fri. June 14	Connecticut Skyhawks 7:05
Sun. June 16	Atlantic City Seagulls 5:05
Thur. June 27	Long Island Surf 7:05
Fri. Sune 28	Portland Mountain Cats 7:05

Do you mean he was once great at being a coke-head?

For someone at TNPUBS::, you could express yourself more clearly... :-)

I read about this. Jones claims that the basketball will both relax him
and help him concentrate. It almost seemed like he was taking the hoops
more serious than the challenger.

I don't know about basketball but Jones is one of the better fighters to
come around in a while.

275.5Loons win, Jones is a passable PGTNPUBS::NAZZAROBest of luck, Marcus!Tue May 28 1996 15:137
Nice crowd at the game Friday night. Loons won 116-107, behind 23 from
Alosa, 20 from Jerome Coles, and 19 by Harrell. Jones played about 15
minutes as the backup point guard. Didn't play too badly, but shot
poorly. Except for one drive, he looked a little mechanical. Was very
quick on defense. BTW, nobody sete a hard pick on him! ;-)
