196.0. "Winning 60%+ in the last 8 games" by 35989::KINNEYD (All Mach, No Vector) Mon Nov 14 1994 16:36

I recently read a lengthy article re the following:

Here is a system that last year went 59-29 (67%) against the spread in
the final 8 games of the NFL season.

    1. Go against any team in the second half that was 6-2 or better
straight up in it's first 8 games

    2. Take any team in the second half that was 2-6 or worse straight up
    in it's first 8 games.

Bizarre? You bet, but it worked last year. Will it work this year?

    Reasons:

'... Ask yourself which teams are most likely to to be overpriced in
November and December? A: The teams at the top of the standings will
get the most respect from the linemakers and the public. But the
contenders are not worried about winning big, just winning. These teams
will get the W but play conservative late in the game and not
cover. The teams that don't cover early will scare people away and end
up underpriced as well. Very few teams will go 3-13 or 4-12 against the
spread in a given season. ...'

    Opinions??

    Dave.

KD, that's been my strategy (mostly) for the Pool this year. I take
your entry, and go the opposite for about 3/4 of my picks. :^)
