The Nuns have champeenship banners hanging at the AWA. The have a 1976
Western Conference Champions banner and a 1982(?) Pacific Division
Champions banner proudly displayed. They are quite proud of these
titles, and keep them right next to where Kyle Macy's # is retired.

| I didn't see Sister Act. I was offended that the term "Sister" was
applied to people in that convent other than Whoopi Goldberg (who's
name in itself would normally not be construed to be that of someone
looking to be a nun). It seemed to me from the commercials that those
people had no real institinctive rhythm, and hence, may not qualify for
the term "Sister"...

I'm not sure how mine is weak.
1) This came out of the "KJ wouldn't hurt a flea" discussion. Sort of
like MJ didn't hit Ainge with an elbow and others...
2) It's a homonym for the number of NBA titles they've won.
3) It fits more now that Charles claims he talked to God and he told
him his team would win.
4) Must be some kind of intervention to support the "KJ is the best
point guard in the NBA" claim.
If it means "I realize my team isn't ready to win the NBA and I wish
the ownership would do what it takes to be competitve", then I'm a
petrie, and so are a lot of Mets and Sox fans (substituting MLB for

Thing is, Spud, the Cubs are joked about but they're not really rapped
like the Red Sox. They're the lovable losers. The White Sox would no
doubt have welcomed that kind of attention over the years, not disdained
it. They could have used all the help they could get when year after
the year the incompetent Cubs were whupping them at the box office,
regardless of the quality of the teams...

hearts. (1969, 1984 NLCS).

| The thing I could never understand is why fans in two team towns only
follow one team, and often hate the other team. Never having lived in a
two team town, I would think it would be cool to follow a team from each
league.

there are some exceptions but not too many.
ie I dislike the Yankees and Islanders, don't
particularly care about the Nets or Devils, follow the Jets but also
mildly root for the Giants.

| I'll take a stab at it.
It may come from the neighborhood you're from.
The Yanks were in the Bronx, the Dogders in Brooklyn, the Giants were
in Manhattan I believe.
I've never met anyone from Brooklyn who likes the Yanks, unless it was
a deal where they hated their father and rooted for the Yanks to piss
him off (I know one guy like that).
My dad was an interesting case. He's ALWAYS been a Sox fan, but he had
more than a passing interest in the Braves, since Hartford had a Braves
farm team.
Now, he's just a Sox fan.....

Hey 'Saw, where in Manhattan did they find room to
play baseball? Central Park?

| I grew up a few hours north of NYC. I loved the Mets, liked the
Red Sox (parents from the Boston area), and hated the Yankees as
a team. I liked certain players (Nettles, Pinella).
In the mid to late 70's, the Mets sucked (possibly as much if not
more than they will this year), and the Red Sox were getting beat
by the Yanks. Steinbrenner was also a jerk. It was easy to hate
them.
It didn't carry over into other sports. I'm a rabid Giant fan, but
I don't mind seeing the Jets or the Pats do well.
