    re: .55

         Hey Now!!!!

         If you shoot a bullpup left handed....the shells eject right
    into your head. I don't think they make bullpup shotguns for lefties
    and if they do, they're hard to come by.

         I've had the priviledge of shooting Steve's Maverick and boy
    was that fun!!! Of course, he loaded the thing for me and mixed a
    few rounds his hand loads in with other stuff.....needless to say,
    a few of the shells MELTED!!! Hardee-har-har!!! I also got to shoot
    his Delta Elite....couldn't hit the broad side of the Q.E.II but
    Steve just popped in another mag and proceeded to take out a 3x3 inch
    piece of wood with each shot from around 20yds.!!! Needless to say,
    he KNOWS the point of impact of his weapons. Well, let me refraise
    that....at 100yds., he didn't hit the bullseye but his three shot
    group was 4 inches high, 12 O'clock, and you could cover it with a
    DIME!!! No, not with the 10mm....it was a 22-250 I believe.

         Steve, let me know when you want to go shooting again. I work
    Monday-Friday, 3:00-11:30pm so mornings or weekends would be fine.

       any time you want to go shooting let me know I'm alway ready to go
    just drop me a line...

      what is your mail node so I can send you mail????

       I can go shooting any morning or on sataday....

        talk to you soon..

6576.66South paws 'n bullpupsBSS::PROCTOR_RSniffing the floral arrangementTue Feb 04 1997 14:1218
    > If you shoot a bullpup left handed....the shells eject right into
    >  your head.

    sorta; depending on the model.

    I have a Bushmaster S17 Bullpup [.223] that I had the local
    'smith craft a shell deflector for me, and it works just fine
    south-pawed... I called Quality Arms (aka Bushmaster) to complain, and
    they said that the S17 is being considered for creating a south paw
    model, or including a brass deflector at the factory.

    'course if you have a couple-three thousand $$$ sitting around the
    Steyr Aug is convertable between south and north paw modes...

    if you wanna finance one for me I'll be glad to conduct in-depth
    testing and report back... *8)

6576.67Confused about the deflector...WMOIS::DELROSARIOAll too clear, we're on our ownWed Feb 05 1997 01:169

    re: .66

         If the ejection port is right next to your head when you've
    got the weapon shouldered, how is a brass deflector going to help???
    Does it deflect the brass up, forward, or downward??? Is the deflector
    some sort of tube that changes the direction 180 degrees???

    Al D.,Jr.
6576.68BSS::PROCTOR_RSniffing the floral arrangementWed Feb 05 1997 13:5416
    > how is a brass deflector going to help???

    It does, it does!

    > Does it deflect the brass up, forward, or downward???

    The brass gets kicked forward and downward {downward is in obedience to
    the law of gravity}. If it didn't have this feature, the firearm would
    be unuseable for me...

    > Is the deflector some sort of tube that changes the direction 180
    >  degrees???

    nope. just a metal block that looks suspiciously like what Colt sends
    on their M-16/Ar-15s...
6576.69Lefty answerMINOTR::BANCROFTThu Feb 06 1997 15:557
    I cannot remember which (Savage maybe??) but I know I have seen a 12 ga
    pump shotgun that ejected DOWNWARD and then fed the shell from the
    tubular magazine. It appears this would be the ideal bullpup device
    for the lefty shooter.
    No I am not talking about the M1919A4 machinegun, I really mean a
    shotgun. It MIGHT have been a semi-auto, but I think it was a pump.
    Maybe Browning?????
