13.48Noter's get together using Al as the excuse...PEAKS::OAKEYWed Jan 29 1997 22:5729
If you're not on my distribution list and you're interested in coming, please
respond! People that have previously responded to me about Al's visit should be
getting this via direct mail.

===============================================================================

Looks like everything is a go for this Saturday's get-together with Al, followed
by dinner and then followed by a get-together at Jim Percival's house after
dinner. Any cat or dog allergies or phobias? Jim has some cute little
micro-puppies that you have to watch out for so you don't step on them.

Given that no one responded with any any special dietary requirements, and based
on suggestions, we'll have dinner at Three Thieves (Academy & Austin Bluffs, in
front of Harmony Bowl), which is *much* cheaper than Zeb's but still a
slab-o-beef place. Three Thieves is also near Jim's house.

So, I need an accurate nose count for who's going to dinner. I'll make
reservations at TTs for 6:45 which will allow a little slop for getting out of
the range and getting up Academy at 6pm on a Saturday night.

So, here's the schedule:
       4pm: Gunbarrel shooting range
      ~6pm: Leave range
      6:45pm: Dinner at Three Thieves
                After dinner head to Jim's

So please RSVP quickly if you're coming!

                              Roger

I'll be by at 8am to get an early start on things. RU buying something
*decent*, or something that befits the citizens of this conference?

My wife did a quick scan of the "keg menu" down at Cheers (our local
discount liquor store with about 25,000 square feet of display
	area, for you non-locals).

She scribbled down just a few of the selections. Fosters, Watneys,
New Castle Brown Ale, Laughing Lab were among the choices. They
even have Guiness (but I don't have the special tap it requires).

Of the choices, I'm currently leaning toward the New Castle. But
I'm headed down there after work to see if anything she didn't
	list strikes my fancy.

Well, according to a friend that is more knowledgeable than
I, Newcastle is out. They take a special tap also.

Guess this is going to turn into an adventure.

Well, based on what they had available, we went with Breckinridge
Avalanche Ale. Of course they only had this in 1/2 Barrel kegs,
	so we're stuck with 16 gallons, not 8. ;-)

I'd like to thank Roak, Jim Percival, Jim Feldman and the others who showed
me a great time this weekend. The range was very nice, even if we did get a
very late start;-) I appreciate you letting me try out your favorite guns.
I always enjoy shooting something new...

The steak was outstanding, still some in the fridge. The people were great and
I got back to the hotel in one piece. What more could a guy ask for?

Jim you ought to get saddles for those "micro"-dogs;-);-)

Watching the IPSC match Sunday morning was great. Some of those` guys are
unbelievable (must be the fancy race guns;-);-))..

Again thanks to all. It's always nice to put faces to the names...

Wrong, Jim. Laughing Lab is brewed locally. Coors is manufactured
    locally.

For non-atendees, I did not correct Roak's characterization of
my dogs as "micro-puppies" since it is true that we have three
small dogs at the moment (an 8 lb Italian Greyhound mix, a 22 lb
Lhasa Apso, and a foster Pekingese that goes about 14 lbs). Of course,
I did not mention that we have two OTHER dogs as well. A Great Dane
that runs in the 120 lb range and an Irish Wolfhound that hit 132 lbs
	last week (she's still growing).

Jim

BTW, It seems that the Breckenridge Ale was a hit.
