1008.0. "Cannot install infobroker 2.1A" by BACHUS::DBC026::brssws::collart (Li P'ti Fouineu) Wed May 21 1997 17:36

			Hello,

a customer cannot install Infobroker 2.1A on a UNIX 3.2d system.

	- removing IBX subsets (setld -d) => ok
	- install (setld -l) => "working" message for 35 minutes and the
choice list never appears (cust broke the
				install after 35').

MailWorks Unix and X500 are installed on this system. Is it
necessary to stop one or both of these product before installing ?

Infobroker 2.1 was installed previously on this system.

Customer end-up with the 4 IBX subsets visible with setld -i but
cannot delete them (message saying they are not installed).

Can you help me to recover ?

					Thanks for quick help

Which subset was taking 35 mins? Have you got a log of
    what happened?

If "setld -i | grep IBX" does not say "INSTALLED" I suggest
you try to re-install them. Once setld knows about subsets
it will always display the subsets with setld -i

Are you sure customer was not using setld -l via dlogin, because
he will get setld "working" messages forever. If using setld -l on a
remote system to install subsets please use telnetto establish
    connection.

btw I never had problems to install Infobroker 2.1A on a UNIX 3.2d
    system.

The install program seems looping (only "working" message) before
the list of what to install appears.
I have no log file of the installation.

Customer did a "setld -d" for the 4 IBX 2.1 subsets before trying
the installation as it is asked in the patch release notes.
I cannot say if IBX subsets were still visibles in the output
of "setld -i" just before installing 2.1A....I will ask to
	customer.

Customer told me that the 4 IBX subsets were listed in "setld -i"
after the aborted installation of 2.1A and that it was not possible
to do a "setld -d" on them (error message saying that they were not
	installed).

I will ask more info to customer....

The subset of 2.1A are listed without "Installed", re-install
	give same problem.

Customer did not a "setld -i" after the initial "setld -d" .

The subsets customer sees actually are from 2.1A .

Can someone describe me how customer can recover now ?
	It becomes urgent !
