995.0. "Year 2000 compliance for products" by SIOG::P_MCENROE () Wed Apr 09 1997 21:02

Hi,

I'm looking for some information on Year 2000
compliance for some layered products on UNIX platforms
on a client site.

I hope I have the correct conference for these.

What I would like to know is if the version mentioned
is year 2000 "compliant" and if not, what version is
(or will be).

The products are

	"DEC X.500 Directory Services V3.1"
	"DEC InfoBroker Server V2.1"

I've looked through the Digital web site for information, but so
far I've drawn a blank for these products.

If this information has been collated some where, pointers to it would
be great.

Thanks

	Digital X.500 Directory Services V3.1 is 2000
	compliant See note 991

DEC InfoBroker Server V2.1 should be 2000
compliant as it does not handle dates.

Hi Julian,

Thanks for the prompt reply. The type of information in note 991
was exactly what I was looking for.

This information will be used for compiling a Year 2000 report of software
products and compliant versions for a client site.

Is a similar note available for InfoBroker, i.e. a more definitive
statement? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the product so I'm not aware of
the date handling etc. Are dates a property of the underlying operating system
rather than the product, hence is compliancy dependant on the UNIX version?
If so, that would probably be sufficent for this report.

Thanks
